He would have been eligible for the for the 2029/30 edition, and would have only missed out on 2030/31 by one day. But, just as Lamine Yamal’s breakthrough became impossible to ignore, we simply had no choice but to act now. Not only has Dowman become the third-youngest debutant in Premier League history, Mikel Arteta has included him in the UEFA Champions League squad. Should he feature in any of the first six fixtures, he will become the first 15-year-old to make an appearance in the competition. This will not be the season he becomes a locked-in starter for Arsenal. But it will be the year he becomes one of the most talked-about players in the world, if he's not already. So let us add some words to the growing collection. Max Dowman is a matador. He waves a red muleta at frenzied defenders before whipping the cloth away faster than they can blink. When he moves his feet become a cartoon blur.
