One of the key attributes clubs are looking for in a playmaker is the ability toย create opportunities against an organized defense.
Counts for passes into the box give you part of the picture, but pure counts will always be biased towards players from dominant teams, and even adjusting for time-in-possession favours players with teammates that get into good positions more frequently.
In our recent Contextual Scouting analysis, Trym Sรธrum identified midfielders thatย attempt the highest percentage of passing opportunitiesย to teammates making runs in behind and cross-receiver runs.
This highlights players with theย visionย to identify these opportunities to play those killer passes, and theย tendencyย to play them.
