for a meme to truly do exceptionally well in the market, it must have mass appeal
this makes it almost impossible for highly controversial memes to find content market fit and naturally filters out "bad" content
for example, if we look at pump fun anyone can upload some random content and create a coin from it - this explains why 98% of coins don't migrate
good for the platform (fees), bad for the user experience
with
@rotfun we are trying to optimize for content quality rather than quantity
we are doing this by giving creators constraints like only making it possible to create ON the platform and not just upload media
some people may see this as a problem bc you cut off a portion of creators that do faceless and highly produced content BUT we see it as an opportunity to differentiate from the rest of the market
what made vine special was the raw authenticity of the content and having these constraints that forced creativity
these strategically thought-out constraints will make it so only the best content makes it to the top by allowing the market to decide the value of that piece of content
this also makes creators want to put more effort into what they are making bc they are financially incentivized to (thru tokenizing the video)
overall we believe that this kind of system will allow the best creators to thrive and let the market decide what should go viral, not just some algorithm
it's not perfect but if people want to create coins and speculate, we want to create a unique and better experience for the trenches to do so
let them speculate.
