Official account of the Reindustrialize Summit.

US Industrial Base
We want to thank @POTUS @WhiteHouse and @Freedom250 for this address to the REINDUSTRIALIZE summit. 90% of Americans want to manufacture more things at home, and we all understand the challenges ahead. This is what makes America great: our willingness to charge headfirst into the fray, reject stagnation, and reimagine the world around us through hard work, innovation, and industry. The future belongs to the BUILDERS. That is why we gather in Detroit: to honor the spirit, ingenuity, and grit of those who built before us, and to build anew for future generations of Americans. We have a generational opportunity to unite technology and manufacturing as the foundation for America's next 250 years. Thank you for your support Mr. President, we will never back down.

Walking around talking to attendees, I heard a number of SMB owners say: "I'm just doing boring manufacturing work - nothing like these what these amazing startups are doing." TBH, doing manufacturing at scale is one of the hardest things to do well. It is not boring - it is high status and the lifeblood of our society. Here's to the small business owners grinding it out, every day, to deliver critical parts to end users. There is no "just doing boring manufacturing." We're proud of what you're delivering in the face of deep headwinds, and the determination you show to Build for America.

Reshoring manufacturing would take decades and cost consumers greatly. The baseline economics to do this are effectively non-viable. It makes more sense to broker a mutually beneficial deal with China than to play this populist, fearmongering game. Bifurcation isn’t the way.

What is the single greatest obstacle to revitalizing America's Maritime Industrial Base? Supply Chains. Frank Finelli, former A&D lead at The Carlyle Group, gives a masterclass on Supply Chains, highlighting two critical shortfalls: > Lack of vibrant mid-tier suppliers in America > Supply chain risk due to a "Diamond-shaped" supplier base, compounded by China "weaponizing the Periodic Table" If you care about shipbuilding, listen in.
