The House has passed my bill, Senate Bill 49 et al.. This bill prohibits the chemical mutilation and physical castration of minors. It is now headed to the Governor’s desk. Thank you to all who voted in favor of this bill.

Unfortunately, toward the end of legislative session, we begin to see more and more bills turn into massive, omnibus packages. Omnibus legislation may contain sections of unvetted language, which can cause unintended harm to the citizens of Missouri. In this interview, I discussed my plan to slow things down so we, as a legislature, have time to vet bills.

The bill was not truly perfected. While Republicans met to discuss the new substitute bill, the bill sponsor (also a Republican) ended debate. Then, before the 3rd read vote, problems with the bill were identified… with no alternative to amend the bill.

Actually, the letter we discussed was in reference to the law - specifically, the MO constitution (Article III, sections 21 and 23), which we have consistently ignored and failed to follow. I’m happy others want to join in on my 11 year quest. I’ll happily lead the way.
