A response that does not address the very real needs of current research students. The argument that current student support cannot be improved by UKRI in case it jeopardises the ability to fund as many future students is very difficult to support.
We have published our response to an open letter from postgraduate research students on inflation and the cost of living. The reply is on our website here: orlo.uk/jX6xJ

It is simply shameful that @SfNtweets is refusing refunds for ECRs and others who have paid for an in person conference that has been cancelled just after the registration deadline. An organisation with many tens of millions of dollars in reserves. Shameful.
The Society for Neuroscience will hold #SfN21 as a fully virtual experience, eliminating all in-person options that had been planned for McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. See our October 8 statement for more details. bit.ly/3aomMMt

Really pleased that we can offer this, which will complement and work alongside NHS Test and Trace. One part of a comprehensive public health approach to keeping staff and students safe on campus - and the result of a lot of hard work by many colleagues over the last few months.
As there are so many problems with the government's #coronavirus testing system, @uclnews has just joined the list of universities offering their own tests to staff & students - "up to 1,000 tests every day for symptomatic staff and students by the start of term" says president.
