UCL Policy Lab Presents the launch of Dr. Emily McTernan’s new book: On Taking Offence Date and time: Thursday, 6th July 2023, at 6:30-8:30pm Location: Queens Park Books, 87 Salusbury Road, Queen's Park, London, NW6 6NH Dr. Emily McTernan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at UCL. Her book aims to rehabilitate taking offence, on the philosophy, ethics, and politics of this much-criticised emotion. In an era of public criticism of those deemed too easily offended, it is easy to overlook the significance and social value of this emotion. The book defends the significance of offence as one way to resist everyday social inequalities: those details of interactions that, together, pattern social hierarchies. The event will include a discussion of the ethics and politics of taking offence at 7pm. #events #London #research #university #book #politics #policy #status #socialequity #Feminism #philosophy #ethics
