It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the recent death of our past president, Jodi White. As President and CEO of the Public Policy Forum, Ms. White led a strategic repositioning of the organization, and she continued her work for many years afterward as an Action Canada board member and mentor.
"Jodi didn't rest on her laurels as a trailblazer,” said Edward Greenspon, PPF President and CEO. “She always put in the work, especially with young people whose promise she could see before it became evident to others. She was deeply committed to Action Canada; Jodi was the one who saw the opportunity to bring the fellowship into PPF and helped make it happen. She stood out for being smart, sensible and generous.”
Ms. White’s career included senior positions in journalism, government and the private sector, starting as a CBC journalist and producer, and later moving to government, where she served as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister.
Ms. White also served on the Board of Directors of a wide range of non-profit organizations, sharing her time and talents with groups that included: the National Theatre School of Canada; Canadian International Council; Trans Canada Trail; MakeWay (formerly Tides Canada); Canadian Journalism Foundation; Ottawa General Hospital; Institute for Research on Public Policy; Canadian Institute of International Affairs; Stratford Festival; Bishop's University; Ashbury College and the Southern Africa Education Fund.
She was a recipient of the Order of Canada for her work in philanthropy — as well as her meaningful contributions to public dialogue in Canada.
