After reading her Twitter (ok, X) posts I’m convinced the $80 million upgrades to Blue Bell Park should include a statue of Braden Montgomery’s mom.
A Texas fan tells me A&M is afraid to play Longhorns. Right. A&M leaves Big 12 to play Alabama, Auburn and LSU every year, but afraid of Texas? That's like agreeing to fight Tyson, Holmes and Ali, but being afraid of Danger from Million Dollar Baby.
Oh more facts for my Longhorn friend (He may unfriend me for this). Only 3 Texas opponents have a winning record. Six aren't bowl eligible. But 5 A&M foes have at least 9 wins. Nine are bowl eligible. End of discussion.
I'm listening to the radio on my way back from Baton Rouge. Analysts are pointing out LSU was without injured starting LB White Weeks and LT Tyree Adams. Funny, but they never mentioned A&M was without injured starting RB Le'Veon Moss and S Bryce Anderson.
Schlossnagle to Texas players: "Don't listen to what I say. Judge me by my actions. Many people on the A&M side will say this wasn't done the right way. I don't know how it could have been done any other way."
Ashton Bethel-Roman on when he felt A&M would win: "Probably when E.J. (Smith) went for it on fourth down and he got hit in the backfield and kept running. I thought, yeah, we're good."
Reed said this week in practice Strength & Conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt brought in a tackling dummy with LSU coach Brian Kelly's face on it. Kelly fired Moffitt as LSU S&C coach.
SEC head of officials John McDaid on if "Horns down" is a penalty: "Take the act out of a football stadium, put it in a shopping mall. Is it something that would offend the senses of the majority of reasonable people in the area?
Giving this signal, to me, isn’t offensive."
Pay no attention to haters. Jimbo Fisher kept together a team ravaged by injuries, including to the starting QB, and led the Aggies to a win over No. 1 Alabama. Some belittle the accomplishments of others to make themselves feel better.
DJ Hicks: "I grew up knowing a lot of Aggies being from Katy. My best friend's dad is an Aggie. I know when I go home he'll be happy. It means a lot of make the Aggies happy."
I called you a dip shit last friday. You know why. I was in the press box on Saturday from 4 to 12:30. If you had something to say to my face you could have. I should not have called you a dip shit. I should have called you a cowardly dip shit.
I’m really apathetic about MLB and surely haven’t cared about the Astros. But after all the righteous indignation from the media I think they’re my favorite team now.
Hoping A&M signs Denver Harris because he's a great player. Also, hoping some day for a play involving Denver Harris, Jahzion Harris, Donnell Harris, Ish Harris and Martrell Harris to hear Andrew Monaco sort that out.
The same talking heads and writers who said A&M's wins weren't "convincing" enough to get in the CFB playoff last year seem to have no issue with Oklahoma and Cincinnati this year.
🎤 NEWS CONFERENCE at 11:00 am this morning in Austin to welcome Schlossnagle and the other former Aggie coaches who are following him to Austin. I wonder if they’ll allow @TexAgs in to ask some follow-up questions. 🤔
I applauded A&M for hiring Jimbo Fisher and I applaud A&M for firing him. Strive to be great. If the coach cannot get you there move on. Jimbo looked like he had A&M trending toward greatness in the first 3 years. The last 3 have a huge disappointment. So move on.
I just Alabama LB Will Anderson if he knows who Reuben Fatheree is. Anderson said "No. I have no idea.' Of course, Fatheree is A&M RT who stone-walled Anderson's pass rush on A&M's game-tying TD pass in 4th Q vs. Alabama. A&M won on its next series.
A Longhorn friend is again ragging me about what he says is A&M's weak non-conference schedule. I pointed out that A&M played Clemson, which next week will have as many wins (13) as Texas' 3 non-conference opponents combined.
Owens on the Aggies being listed on "upset alert" by some outlets: "I don't know what it takes for them to start believing. Ain't no upsets going on. We come to play."
Huge round of applause for Jace LaViolette when he enters the Hall of Champions for coach Michael Early introduction. He responded with a double thumps up. Then posed for photos with teammates.
A&M's football game vs. Auburn on Saturday is officially a sellout. Kyle Field will be packed with more than 100,000 fans. The atmosphere will be more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
Saw on line a Notre Dame fan angry that A&M reportedly offered Elko $1.8 million. Fan says CFB needs a salary cap because $$$ is screwing up the game. Now, will someone remind me why ND won't join a conference.
Texas A&M's Ainias Smith has gained more yards on his last two punt returns (127) than Arkansas' offense has gained (125). Aggies lead 34-16 with 5:48 to play.
I'm perplexed why Texas fans rip SEC for playing 4 non-conference games. Maybe it does damage the conference, but SEC teams don't want to give up an extra home game. It's a money grab. If any team understands damaging a conference for a money grab (LHN) it's Texas, isn't it?
Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher on Tuesday morning told Tyler radio host Bill Coates that DE Micheal Clemons and S Keldrick Carper will return next season. Clemons was leading the Aggies in sacks before suffering an injury. That's 5 seniors on defense that have opted to return.
Joe Biden says only the very rich got a tax break. I'm not even close to rich, but I got an extra $80 in my paycheck. I got a refund, too. That $$$ went straight into my son's college fund because I don't expect other people to take care of my responsibilities.
It might not seem like a big deal that Ohio State didn't cash in there, but in fact, if the final score remains 52-24 we are going to be reminded of it by Texas A&M fans until the end of time.
Probably not a popular opinion, but when Texas A&M and Texas resume their football series I hope they play on Saturday. I know playing on Thanksgiving is tradition but I kinda like the tradition of spending Thanksgiving with my family.
Huge victory for Texas A&M basketball. Aggies rally from a 21-point deficit to defeat Iowa State, 73-69. And did so without starters Henry Coleman and Boots Radford.
With the addition of LB Antonio Doyle, Texas A&M has commitments from 10 football prospects who are ranked among the nation's Top Ten at their positions.
Just spoke with an athletic director at SEC spring meetings. He said the SEC going to pods when Texas and OU join is not an option. Big question is whether play an 8 or 9 game conference football schedule.
Not surprised, but I think the outrage over Fisher grabbing Tyrel Dodson's face mask is silly. In HS I drove my coach so crazy he practically grabbed my face mask on a daily basis. We accepted it was a tough game with tough coaching. Has FB gotten that soft?
So word is A&M to Gator Bowl. Kentucky to Citrus Bowl. So what we can take from this is if A&M plays LV instead of No.2 Clemson they go to Citrus. If A&M plays Miami instead of No. 2 Clemson A&M is in NY's Six bowl. OK ... now just go win Gator.
Elko: "We don't talk about 5-1. We don't talk about how good the result was against Missouri. We don't talk about how bad the result was against Notre Dame. We talk about how to get better."
Elko on second half defense: "We tweaked a little bit. They were hurting us a little with some of their cracks. We made some adjustments to how we were fitting some things. When you play football like that it changes the game."
National media guys trying to cover their asses for dismissing A&M for a 52-24 loss at Alabama when Dickerson and Waddle were playing at full strength.
Myles Garrett deserves the suspension he's going to get. What baffles me is that so may overlook the fact Rudolph instigated the situation and then continued to attack Garrett. No doubt, Garrett deserves punishment. Rudolph should face some measure of punishment, too.
Texas A&M All-American guard Kenyon Green has not yet decided his future plans. In Houston as a Lombardi Award finalist, he said in the next few days he will talk with his mother and father to decide if he will enter the NFL draft and if he will play in the Gator Bowl.
Brief conversation with Steve Spurrier during the weather break.
SS: Who's that QB for A&M?
Me: Marcel Reed. A freshman from Nashville.
SS: Is that right? Nashville?
Me: I hear they turned out good QBs in Tennessee.
SS: We can run.
Spurrier is orginally from Johnson City, Tn.
Elko on going for it on fourth down: "We were going to be aggressive because it was going to be a high scoring game. We knew our advantage was our offense against their defense."
