How gym / fitness changed my life (a story)⤵️
This month is special for me.
6 years ago I started my fitness journey, and 3 years cancer free.
It was August 2017 when I decided to start training, I had no gym, no knowledge, and neither I knew what to do, I just started. I wanted to change myself as someone who was a fat kid.
I trained outside, on some bars with few friends for months and months, summer and winter times, started learning about nutrition, and prepared my meals every day for high school.
People laughed at me and called me crazy, but I kept on doing it.
Started at: 107kg (235lbs)
In the first 10-11 months I've lost 37kg (81 lbs).
I looked completely different, many people were shocked by the change and couldn't believe that was me.
(For reference, this down below is a 3 year change, 2016-2019)
But still, inside of me, I was a small, fat insecure guy who was still the same guy on the left from the inside.
Having a rough background from being bullied and called all the different names, it does a lot of scars on you as a human being.
From 2019 and further, I've gained a lot of confidence, worked on myself and healed, changed my perspectives on things, and tried to approach everything with empathy.
Grew as a human being, and used every trauma and experience to better myself, and whatever I've experienced till today, all of that I'm trying to use to be kinder to others, understanding and putting myself in their shoes.
-----------------------------
In late 2019 I've been diagnosed with a pituitary gland tumor, fought with it, was at the lowest point in my life, figuring out things, and stayed optimistic.
A year and a bit later I've beaten it. Blessed with another chance and grateful for everything.
In all of those times, one thing that always was with me and I've never dropped was fitness / gym and being positive.
I always looked forward to the next day, and to training, however hard it was, I did it.
This was one thing that kept me going, I've pursued a goal of getting healthier, being in shape, and proving to myself I can do it, and one thing that kept me sane.
I've never thought this would become my hobby, job, and something I do from passion and love.
From being a fat kid to this today.
-----------------------------
It took me 6y to build what I am today, as a person, and my physique. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
5 meals a day, 8h of sleep, tracking macros day in and day out, finished coaching courses, sacrificed many things to do this, doing the same things daily, and kept on learning from other people...
What I do today I'll be honest, it's very hard, but it is worth it. Time management is everything, you don't need to do what I do, but simply eating healthier and going to the gym will change your life, not only physically, but also mentally.
If you want something so bad, you'll not make excuses, you'll just get on with it.
Gym has taught me many things: how to be resilient, work under stress, be consistent, have an open mind to always learn more, be patient, be kind and understanding, how to do hard things, be optimistic, be grateful for small things, and never give up.
And I gained much more than that, new friendships, a new environment, and a new perspective on life.
Many people think it's just a physical change, but trust me, gym will teach you more mental stuff and grow you as a person than just physical change. It overflows/applies to business as well.
I know many people find excuses, especially obese people, but obesity is ABSOLUTELY your own choice, deep down you know it yourself.
I know a first step is scary and you're feeling lost, but take my word and just take that step, it will be really uncomfortable, and scary, but push yourself.
I just want to say: you can do it, you're in control, you decide how you want to shape your life. You ALWAYS have a choice, it's on you to change it or not.
Whatever you set your mind to, you genuinely can do it, I did it with many obstacles, it shaped me into who I am today and I wouldn't change even one thing from my past.
Please take care of your body and your health, you only have one.
And here I am, 6 years later, proud of what I've accomplished, what I've created and become, and this isn't an end, this is a lifetime journey of continuously improving myself and growing as a person.
In the end, if you made till here:
Thank you for reading this, and if this gave you any new perspective, inspired you in any way, and maybe helped you make that first step, that's all that matters. ♥️
That's my short or... long fitness journey if you may say, life will happen, unexpected things will occur but you cannot stop, you cannot give up on YOU no matter how hard it is. Understand it's a phase and you will overcome it.
It is just a chapter NOT the whole book 🙏🏻
Life is a blessing on its own.
(This is my current physique at 85kg/187lbs) 👊🏻
