This is an important read from
@henrysward @cartainc on some recent press targeting the company. Its about Carta but also addresses some of the issues we are seeing widely in society with many in the press telling one side of a story and/or amplifying narratives they'd seeming like to believe or that draw more clicks. I'm proud to be on the board of Carta and to be working with Henry, this great company and its products. One of the reasons why is this statement from Henry "I told the legal team that our policy is if we believe we treated an employee poorly we should settle their claim fairly and error on the side of generosity. However, if we disagree with a claim, we should rely on the judicial system. We should let a judge, jury, or arbiter decide if we made a mistake. We would trust the courts to decide what’s right." That is what we believe and why we have stood up to false claims. Is everything perfect at Carta or is Henry, obviously not, but its a strong company that cares a lot about culture. Start-ups are hard, many people don't work out, aren't a fit, or don't like it, but that does not give one the right to a seek a payout because they aren't happy, good a bad performance review, or got fired. I understand its difficult for the press or court of public opinion to have the full context, and there are clearly abuses in our industry. But I believe in Carta's approach, how we handled this, and frankly the claims just aren't true. It would nice if the press sought a more complete truth and also focused on all the good things Carta (and other leading cos) and Henry have done in building a multi-hundred million $ company serving the start-up, fund, and LLC ecosystem. 🙏
