I posted a screenshot of this earlier today, but here's the video of the guy who drove his Maserati around barrels, signs, an arrow board, and barricades into high water at US 23 and I-270 on the south side of Columbus. An expensive lesson, but at least he wasn't hurt.
This is passable, not perfect. Exactly what we've been telling you to expect for days now. You can drive on I-71, but not at the speed limit. Also, much easier to drive in the snow without taking pics on your phone too. ;)
Well, I got hit in a work zone. @ColumbusPolice clocked the driver going 73mph in a 45mph on I-70 in Columbus. Since he had a suspended license, he tried to flee and hit me in the process. Good guys got him. Move over. Slow down. Pay attention. Don't run from police. #NWZAW
6:30PM: Where are the plows? Pretty much everywhere except NW Ohio. This is what 864 of them look like on a map. Conditions are quickly going downhill in a large part of Ohio. Please avoid travel, but if you must be out allow plenty of extra time for travel. #ODOTwinter
Hard to see, but if you look closely you can see a bank robbery suspect that led police on a chase down I-75 in Wood Co this morning throwing handfuls of cash out the window. 🤦♂️
Entering Ohio from Michigan on US-23 or I-75, this is what you see today. It's also on more than 130 digital message signs across the state. #OSUvsMICH
Doing an interview about snow and ice operations when my daughter starts singing. I asked my son to take her upstairs so I could finish. It got worse. A lot worse. #WorkFromHomeProbs
Yes, I've seen it. Yes, I've laughed. No, it's not true. No, Roman roads didn't get the truck traffic or freeze/thaw that Ohio roads get. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Prepare to see hazardous travel conditions later this week. Many of our crews will start operations later today or early Thursday ahead of the storm. While it is snowing, our goal will be to keep roads passable, not perfect. If you can avoid travel Thursday and Friday, please do.
Our UAS Center drone pilots flew over Longworth (Island) Hall and the Brent Spence Bridge in Cincinnati today. Thankfully, the Ohio River is finally receding.
Today, I lost one of my heroes. Jerry Wray was the ODOT Director who hired me. He wasn't just a boss. He was a mentor and a friend. When Chelsea decided to follow her dream of opening a bookstore, one of our first customers was Jerry Wray.
Today on I-75 north of Dayton, crews relished the opportunity to pick-up piles and piles of pickles with plows. It was kind of a big dill. Fortunately, no serious injuries.
9 years ago today, I took this picture as I arrived to become the @ODOT_Statewide press secretary. I had been in radio since I was 15 and had no idea what I was getting into. I found a rewarding career working with people I love. Here's to many more years!
@ODOT_Statewide > Commenting on naked roller blader in Columbus, Ohio: “Pedestrians are not permitted on interstate highways,” a spokesman at ODOT said. “There are signs posted at all the entrance ramps. This is a safety issue.”
Thank you, Captain Obvious!! 🤣🤣🤣
Left lane loafers, lollygaggers, laggards, or just 🤬. Poking along in the left lane is a top cause for road rage and aggressive driving. That’s why we’re reminding Ohio drivers to stay right except to pass.
I don’t post about politics, and this isn’t about politics. This is about sharing a moment with my daughter to show her there are no limits to what her future can hold. We may not agree politically, but we should all agree that we love this great country of ours.
Some quick points for reporters:

🔸8.9 million miles driven
🔸1,017,904 hours on the road
🔸Plows hit 59 times

Four years ago today I walked through these doors for the first time as an employee. I had no idea what I was getting into. All I knew was radio. But I fell in love with it. Thankful to be a part of @ODOT_Statewide.
10PM: Tag team. As 12 hours ends for some drivers, it’s reload and head out for 12 more hours for others. Travel conditions are awful across most of Ohio. Snow, sleet, ice, downed trees and power lines, flooding. 1,300 crews are dealing with it all. #ODOTwinter
How about asking “Why is the speed limit on SR-32 60 mph?” Then I’d answer your question with something like “Because there are at-grade intersections, so it isn’t a freeway like an interstate.” Then you’d say “ok thanks for your time.” Then I’d reply “Have a great day.”
Just got new figures this morning. In central Ohio, traffic was down 47.3% Tuesday and 45.5% Wednesday. We get statewide figures daily and regional numbers weekly. People are heeding @GovMikeDeWine and @OHdeptofhealth’s calls to stay home. #InThisTogetherOhio
As measured by tires on pavement, most Ohioans appear to be honoring the stay-at-home order. During the order's first day Tuesday, the number of vehicles on highways statewide declined by 42%, says @ODOT_StatewideDispatch.com
MEDIA: I’m going to knock out a couple of interviews previewing this incoming winter weather across the state around 3pm. You want in on the fun and excitement? Send me a DM. And yes, I’ll be standing in front of a stereotypical pile of salt. 😁
