They both have the same problem because •the harknonnens really are that bad •the Atreides are pretty good (consider actions the duke takes when arriving) •Paul really is the result of centuries of (very good) selective breeding •Paul really can see the future
For anyone that still thinks Paul’s rise to power in DUNE is up for interpretation… here’s Denis setting the record straight. He rewrote Chani to basically spoon feed the audience that “Paul is bad” - but it’s quite clear a lot of DUNE fans think he’s still like Luke Skywalker, which just reinforces the ideas the book/movies propose about messianic figures. Denis is still going to have to make Messiah to deal with same issue Herbert had.

My main takeaway from the Bible was that Jesus hung around w whores, scammers and the maladjusted and outcast because they were far more decent people than the so called righteous

I think this is partially the one-child syndrome. My wife’s best friend and her husband have only one child. They’re nice people, but the mom has literally never “missed bedtime” with her kid. They’re afraid to break the routine. When I told my wife to invite her friend on a girls weekend trip, my wife said she knew her friend wouldn’t go because of this. Shackles of her own making.
All the most overwhelmed parents I know only have one child each and I don't think this is a coincidence.
