This is how a designer at Slack organizes their design iterations in Figma Every designer should copy this approach and keep a daily log of their design iterations. Doesn't have to be super structured but just date and name for each design iteration Biggest benefit I see for using this approach is building trust with your design manager and stakeholders as they can go into your Figma file and visualize your progress/efforts Also scares away micro managers😉 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/PFtnNAdJcYc @andrewgosine shows how he organizes design iterations for @SlackHQ in @figma 👇

I asked a freelancer designer making $146,000+ on Contra to show his DMs Because everyone here only posts wins like closing new clients, invoice payment screenshots creating a flex culture where newbie freelance designers feel like they can never be successful No one is sharing behind the scenes of how all this happens! Like how do you actually close a client in the DMs? Do you share pricing upfront or only after the initial discovery call? My assumption was that the higher your X following the more inbound work you would get. So then the only strategy is to share cool design work and grow your presence on here right? But then this freelancer defies all those rules because he has only 3,000 followers but is killing it. After seeing his DMs I realized a genius strategy at play: Become a top rated Contra expert and then pick your favorite projects from overwhelming inbound client work from the Contra network 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/A1R6FV7IROw @deereis shows how to use @contra to get inbound freelance design gigs👇

If every designer started using Claude as a design thought partner in this way it might be the end of design critiques I have attended 100s of design critiques where all you got is basic UX feedback like "your button doesn't follow design system guidelines" or "your dropdown violates design heuristics" Stuff that AI can easily point out and save designers hours of attending unproductive weekly design crits I strongly feel that design teams should start building internal design crit bots and train it on their design guidelines and principles Also make it mandatory for every designer to run their designs first with the internal crit bot before presenting during design crit. This way design crit can be used to jam on new feature ideas to improve the product experience something which only humans can do! 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/qgvkqXZq618 @hammedk shows how the Jump design team uses @claudeai as a design thought partner to improve @figma designs before design critiques👇

This is how a top designer annotates their Figma file for dev handoff Steal this pro technique to improve your design to dev handoff process! This UX researcher created a Figma prototype that tells designers which research method to use for testing designs Researchers often complain that designers and product managers don't involve them in the research process But the real issue is speed and time cost! The time it takes to setup a meeting with a researcher, explain the designs that need to be tested etc. Sometimes designers just want to show 1-2 design iterations to the user for quick feedback. You don't need a dedicated user researcher for that!! Which is why I love this process because it empowers designers and frees up researcher's bandwidth to focus on bigger projects. Designers answer a bunch of questions in the Figma prototype and it spits out which methodology to use, examples, resources If every researcher copied this process the friction between research and design would be eliminated! 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/SDmKeH2YKsM Sofia Pevganen shows how she created @figma prototype to help designers at @deliveryherocom figure out which research methodology to use 👇
This is how a top researcher uses Figma to create interactive user journey maps I find it crazy that so many design teams still keep the user journey in static PDFs. It makes updating the journey map really difficult. No wonder most companies have like a thousand outdated journey map PDFs which confuses the stakeholders Design teams should create journey maps as an interactive Figma prototype and share the link across the org to make sure everyone is on the same page 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/SDmKeH2YKsM Sofia Pevganen shows how she uses @figma to create an interactive user journey map for @deliveryherocom 👇

This is how a designer at Slack designs project covers in Figma Yes this is super basic but most designers hardly put any effort into it! I have worked on big design teams where it's impossible to find relevant project files. You literally have to message someone to find the files. You better pray that designer is not on leave or hasn't left the company 😅 Every designer should add their project slack channel name (or link to project documentation) in the Figma project cover. Makes it super easy for other designers and cross functional stakeholders to get project context 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/PFtnNAdJcYc @andrewgosine shows how designers at @SlackHQ design project covers in @figma 👇

This is how the Plaid design team uses ChatGPT to automate the content design process After watching this clip don't jump to the conclusion that ChatGPT is going to eliminate all the content designer roles Instead leveraging AI in this manner helps scale the content design operations I have worked on many large design teams and observed that content designers were always setup to fail There would be 5 content designers supporting 100+ product designers. All the content designers would be at capacity and flooded with so many requests that they couldn't keep up. In the end product designers, PM would lose trust in the content design team and stop involving them in design process altogether! To solve this problem the Plaid design team created a custom ChatGPT bot called "Grambot" and fed it all their content guidelines So now their designers just have to take a screenshot of their @figma designs and feed it to Grambot. Grambot reviews the screenshots and suggests content revisions that align with Plaid content guidelines. The designer then updates the Figma designs with the revised content from Grambot 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/MvhGXvK71TI Greg Makrigiorgos shows how @Plaid uses @ChatGPTapp to scale their content design operations 👇

This is how a designer at Uber decides to create a new design system component in Figma I love how the design systems team at Uber asks these two important questions before rushing to create new components: 1. Is this truly a system level component or specific to a particular workstream? 2. Is there a genuine use case for this component in atleast two other products? This designer created a custom ChatGPT bot to reduce the time for reviewing content in Figma files from 1hr to 30s Perfect example of using AI to automate tasks that every designer hates doing Take a screenshot of your designs in @figma and feed it to a custom ChatGPT bot trained on company's content guidelines Then make the content revisions recommended by ChatGPT in Figma You no longer have to worry about violating company content guidelines or embarrassing typos on a high priority campaign! 👀 Watch the full interview on Sneak Peek: piped.video/MvhGXvK71TI Greg Makrigiorgos shows how @Plaid design team uses @ChatGPTapp to speed up their content review process 👇

This is how a top UX researcher at a big company gets research involved early in the design process Most UX researchers complain that product and design don't involve them early in the process. But the real issue is that PMs and other stakeholders don't know the best way to involve researchers Simple way to solve this problem is to create a research onboarding deck. Doesn't have to be super fancy like the one shown in this clip. But just describe how the UX research team works, how is the team organized and importance of doing research 👀 Watch the full interview: piped.video/SDmKeH2YKsM?si=nhlR… Sofia Pevganen shows how she uses @Google Slides to create a research onboarding deck for stakeholders at @deliveryherocom👇

You made a big mistake if you went back to your hotel after #Config2024 The real alpha is shared not at the conference but after parties. The amount of alpha I got from this rooftop afterparty hosted by @framer is insane 🤯 Sharing some alpha with y'all who couldn't make it: @ridd_design: "Bro, it took me 4 years of grind to get Dive to where it is now! I would wake up everyday at 5:30am to work on it" @imjesseshow: "Yeah I can just do this YouTube thing now to pay my bills. But I have been doing it for 7 years now. You gotta love the game man" @itsdesignertom: "I don't care what anyone says but the best ice cream place in SF is Bi-Rite Creamery"

This is how a top researcher does preference testing for Figma designs using Lyssna Preference testing is really tricky When you show users different design options and ask their preference the answers are often misleading Because It's hard for users to explain what they prefer Instead you want to first observe how a user perform tasks with your designs and then do preference testing at the end as optional Sofia Pevganen shows how she does preference testing for @figma designs at @deliveryherocom in @WeAreLyssna 👇
This is how a top researcher tests Figma prototypes with users using Lyssna A common mistake when testing prototypes is asking the user if the product felt easy to use But that adds bias because you're assuming by default that the user found your product intuitive Instead you want to ask the user if accomplish a specific task in the product was easy or difficult Sofia Pevganen shows how she tests @figma prototypes for @deliveryherocom in @WeAreLyssna 👇
