Within unfamiliar territory, improve your social skills, take on new hobbies, try team sports, go out more, help people randomly, use public transport, volunteer for a public cause. Ditch thoughts of actively finding a partner, and see the magic that happens.
The Japa movement never talks about the crippling loneliness of the abroad. Even success and access to everything you ever wanted can bore or make you sad.

Told my gf yesterday of a hypothesis, in the end biology will win. Females will choose mates who can ensure the survival of their offspring even though it looks like its for themself. So they look for traits in males with that in mind. Financial success is a strong indicator (even if the wealth isn’t self acquired), also why i think most females will leave the fool soon as he’s parted with his money. Seeking a ‘real man’, ‘leader of the pack’, ‘street smart’, imo its all just biology and natural selection in play. During teenage years when its not a concern, you see the first tweet, when the time is right, our dna honed since the first cave men, will shine through and you get tweet 2. Males on the other hand feel the need to build community, gather as much resources so that they facilitate what all life is wired to primarily do, survive and reproduce (to ensure the survival of the next)

As an employer I recommend (also to others in the comments), remove your photo, remove your location, move your experience right under profile, put education last unless you’re a doctoral student in a highly specialized and relevant field, remove any skill that you’re not at least good at, 1/5 is poor. Include achievements in your experience or some transformations you delivered the companies.

As a numbers guy, I'll lean heavily on @victorfatanmi's opinion. Dara and the engineers who get jobs strictly based on competence over someone competent with a brand are outliers in today's market. Personal brands reinforce decision-making when hiring, however subtle. It's there whether you know it or not. I'll say if one can go for both, then they should. Be a great engineer, but always have social proof because you don't know who you're passively selling to. If you have the leverage of a great network or environment, then you should absolutely focus on the code. If you're in Nigeria or anywhere riddled with uncertainties, please, have evidence and social proof. As an engineer, branding does work. I know people who have built great products but are job hunting at the moment.
