Darnell Coles is really a symbol of the complacency that has taken over this organization. Like what has he done to prove that he is the right guy for the job of being the hitting coach?

Wood and Darnell Coles figuring out what was wrong after 3 months

ALT Lil Yachty Drake GIF

After homering last night, James Wood said he felt like he's been opening up too early and wanted to finish his swing (especially on breaking pitches). He just launched his 30th homer to dead center on a slider over the heart of the plate. I'd say his adjustments are working.

This is a super cool video. Hassell uses the toe tap and is disappointed in himself. This is a player in the lab trying to find ways to get better
Looks like Hassell ditched his toe tap and has more of a leg lift going now

Congrats on a great career Wilson! The Buffalo was such a fan favorite in DC. Chanting his name during his walk up song was always such a blast
#ElExtrabase⚾️🇻🇪

I get frustrated sometimes when Nationals fans act like a lack of spending is the only reason this team has been bad. Sure, it is part of the issue, but the lack of player development and bad drafting has been just as big of a problem.

Of note on Cade Cavalli's five scoreless innings today: His fastball sat 97 mph (up from 95.5 mph average) and he topped out at... 98.7 mph. Pretty good.

Dylan Crews is a career .190 hitter and is now 0 for his first 18 to start the season…. Dylan hit .426 in 2023 while at LSU…..He hit .355 in single A that same year. Dylan held the bat in his interossei muscles at LSU and early on in his pro career…. Dylan now holds the bat with the flexor digitorum superficialis of his right hand and the flexor digitorum of his left hand…. There are several differences in the mechanics of each swing but none bigger than the spacing between his arms at launch as well as at extension

At this point, I am not even sure spending big money this offseason would be a good idea. You would have to massively overpay to bring anyone decent in because nobody would want to come here. We also just need to focus on building a functional baseball operation

I totally understand where people like this are coming from. However, I can’t stand this narrative. You don’t need a big budget to build a good bullpen. Rizzo simply did a bad job building the bullpen, simple as that

Really looks like this offseason was a big swing and a miss from both Mike Rizzo and ownership
Also in today’s story: Nats’ offseason hitting acquisitions have hit .211 with a .637 OPS. Their pitching acquisitions have allowed a .287 batting average with an .829 OPS. There is reason to believe these numbers improve moving forward, but that’s where they stand so far.

Don't be surprised if there are a lot of breakouts in the minors next year. Even getting the player development to become average would be such an improvement for these guys
You want your mind-blown about player development in the #Nats system: “I was trying to figure out the swing and everything else,” Seaver King said of his time with Wilmington and Harrisburg, “but at the end of the day, like Kevin McGonigle told me: ‘It's never the swing. It's always pitches and timing and all those things.’ So he kind of simplified it for me today — and you know, it worked.” mlb.com/news/nationals-prosp…
