At the onset of the pandemic, I quite literally had nothing to lose: 21, running out of money, 2.5 years since I dropped out and nothing to show for it. But I knew we were entering an era where ways to find truth would matter more than ever, and Polymarket could play a critical role in that. After all, nothing is more valuable than the truth. It’s still a work in progress, but we’re honored to have made the impact we have thus far.

Why do leaders who bring peace and prosperity often lose power quickly, while corrupt or brutal rulers persist for decades?
Political survival depends less on morality or ideology, and more on the structure of institutions, specifically, the size of the “selectorate” and “winning coalition.”

Nicolás Maduro stays in power because his winning coalition (the small group that keeps him in office) is very small and tightly controlled. It’s not the people who vote, but a network of military leaders, intelligence officers, party elites, and loyal businessmen who all receive special rewards from the government. These rewards can be money, contracts, power, or protection from the law. In return, they protect Maduro and make sure he stays in charge.
In political theory, when the winning coalition (W) is small and the total group of people with any say in power (selectorate, S) is large, leaders only need to satisfy a few loyal insiders instead of serving the whole country. This is why Venezuela’s system keeps working for Maduro even though the economy is in crisis, his supporters benefit personally, while most citizens get little. As long as the military and elite groups keep receiving their share, the regime remains stable and Maduro is likely to stay in power.

For now, I won’t be sharing any updates beyond this stage cuz I feel it would be halfway done, I want to focus on finishing it first.
I honestly can’t wait and still find it hard to believe how far Pricediction has come. I’m extremely proud of the journey @pricediction has taken so far. Never afraid to fail, never afraid to try something new.
