Not long after Brave launched, a Mozilla employee told me that during an all-hands meeting, their leadership openly laughed at the idea of Brave. It was a good demonstration of just how easy it is to underestimate new ideas. Our mission was simple: put the user first and give them real control over their own data.
Happy to see the beginnings of the Brave Wallet released on mobile. 🎉🦁
By soon on iOS, @brave means that it's already submitted to the App Store and awaiting Apple's approval.
The Brave Wallet is now available in beta release on our Android app (and soon on iOS), enabling mobile users to test crypto access. Users can store, manage, grow, and swap their crypto portfolio from a crypto wallet built into the Brave mobile browser. brave.com/mobile-brave-walle…
The best way to find a better solution to a hard programming problem is not in front of a computer staring at the more complicated solution, but in the shower, while you exercise, or even while you sleep. Life balance consistently leads to better more simple solutions.
For the DApps out there...
With Brave Wallet's release today on Desktop (and soon on mobile), you suddenly have 42M new users with web 3 access on by default. That's huge.
Try it out now at brave.com/wallet/ and look for the wallet icon on the top right of your browser.
4½ years ago I left my dream job at @khanacademy to co-found a new startup with @BrendanEich - Creator of JavaScript and founder of non-profit Mozilla famous for @firefox. Today we’re celebrating the 1.0 release of the @brave browser. Here's my story: brianbondy.com/blog/174/the-…
Amazing to see how far @brave has come in nearly 3 years. We've built this amazing team, launched products and services across platforms, created a top tier utility token @AttentionToken, and affected the browser and web monetization industries... and we're just getting started!
The new native Brave Wallet is live and enabled by default on Brave Nightly right now! Read about it here then try it out! 🔥🔥🔥

Android Dapps support is now in Brave.
The next iOS release has it too.
🦁💚🧡🔥🎉
I can't explain how massive this is. First class Dapps support is now available in a real browser on mobile!
Don't use a sub-par wallet with a tacked on webview.

10 months ago I got this MacBook Pro and I've been using it with broken keys for 4 months. Worst keyboard I've had. Escape key disappearing when it should be there bugs are annoying too.
The best part of @brave's new sync is that it has feature parity with Chrome, but the default and the only option is to use client side encryption. That means only you have the keys. Brave the company can't see your data. In Chrome, the default is not client side encryption.
10 years ago today I worked up the courage to ask the creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla for a picture. People often underestimate the power of a decade.
I just pushed an update to sampson.codes/brave/vs-firef…—my MAU tracker for Brave and Firefox—which adds AI analysis via Claude 3.5 Sonnet. "Brave's user base has more than quadrupled in four years, while Firefox has lost approximately 25% of its users in the same period." The tides are shifting!
For my birthday, my 3 boys surprised me with breakfast in bed (Cheerios, a banana, and coffee), presents, and they all decided to wear their Brave shirts to school to make me happy. How blessed am I? Very blessed.
Some Brave Leo AI updates:
- Leo will now divulge which base model is in use if you ask.
- Support for image attachments and photos is in review NOW, will merge soon. See Nightly soon on Desktop and Android. iOS is a bit behind there.
- Tab organizer is in progress and close to review.
- Tool use merged and in prod. Client side (Browsing for you) is getting closer day by day but will be Nightly only as we work through things there.
- I'm planning to add a leo-first flag in brave://flags to work through UX enhancements to improve default URL bar actions going to Leo. Nightly only. I'll tweet details for those interested later.

Did you know you can set your default search engine in @brave to @DuckDuckGo and then as you need to you can still use google by prefixing your search with :g

This revamped Brave fixes a long tail of thousands of issues, has full extension support, is faster, and is packed with privacy & security features.
It took hundreds of days of long hours, and it's something we're proud of!
Brave Leo is using today's Sonnet 3.7 release on all channels now. Give it a try. The Brave UI says 3.5 and it will be generalized separately a bit slower.
In today's @brave 0.62.50 release, you can now control if social media logins and embeds are allowed. If you prefer less tracking and faster page loads because you don't use them in a 3rd party context, you can disable them in about:settings
We're looking for a @rustlang summer intern at @brave for an exciting opportunity to work on a Rust based ad block library for inclusion in our Chromium based browser. 🦀 ❤ 🦁

Leo on @brave Nightly can now obtain patch files for pull requests and reason about them to help you understand code in Github pull requests. Here Leo is analyzing its own pull request for adding support to analyze pull requests. Available in tomorrow's build. 🔄 #GitHub

I feel like @brave Goggles is the biggest innovation in search in the last decade. Lean left or right? Want certain kinds of results? Pick your biases, don't allow others to pick it for you. Share and collaborate on Goggles too!
Unlike Google + Bing, Brave Search doesn’t manipulate its algorithm to bias or down-rank results. However, all search engines have some level of intrinsic bias. Goggles gives you the power to search without these limits.

Today we're launching several campaigns to support non-profits fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, including @nokidhungry@getusppe@khanacademy. They receive free space to advertise and fundraise for their relief funds, and Brave users can donate BAT. brave.com/covid19-response/
Very excited to share in particular that we've been actively working on a new Brave Wallet built from scratch. Available by default, no extensions required to work with Dapps.

Major thank you to the @1Password team for doing the 7.1.2 Hotfix (available now) to ensure the new Brave Core Dev channel, and soon to come Beta and Release channels work together. Download 1Password and Brave core Dev channel today! brave.com/download-dev/
This is not true, there is no inherit technical "need". Brave Wallet is a wallet like MetaMask. Brave Wallet proxies requests and drops the IP and other identifying headers. Proof by counter example.
In order to process requests from a wallet like MetaMask, Infura needs to know the IP address of the device sending the request and the blockchain address.
Why you might ask?
The answer is actually pretty standard for how web infrastructure works.
