Once Upon A Garden: The Complete Series by
@LindaDouniaR
We are excited to announce that Linda's new project we released In collaboration with
@artxcode_io is now sold out. We had planned to launch Once Upon A Garden: The Complete Series on the 26th, but the response from Linda's collectors has been overwhelming. These results came while we presented a small solo show of Linda's work at the @silkartxyz event in Istanbul, where Linda also shared her experience of building this multi-year project. Congratulations Linda. We are honored to host your work and ideas in the context of all the other artists experimenting and looking for ways in which they can explore art-making via these AI tools.
Since 2022, Linda has been creating a speculative archive of critically endangered and extinct flora—plants that are often poorly documented. In this project, she uses Artificial Intelligence as a tool to reconstruct data from the past, filling gaps in our collective memory.
Once Upon A Garden explores what the flora of West Africa—Linda's home—might have looked like in the past. While the work has become increasingly photo-realistic as AI technology has advanced, it remains shaped by the limited and fragmented data available. Global efforts to document biodiversity loss have varied, and in many cases, we lack photographic records, relying instead on historical herbarium samples.
Ultimately, this collection highlights the need for better documentation of biodiversity loss worldwide. It also raises important questions about how AI reflects what we choose to remember and what is forgotten, particularly concerning non-Western narratives.
To all the collectors and supporters: thank you for supporting Linda's artistic dedication and innovation.💐
