there is such a lack of humanity left in this pandemic. i've lost two people to covid and the FIRST question I'm asked is "but what else did they have?" as if that makes their loss less meaningful. what they HAD wasn't KILLING them which is why they were still HERE.
i've officially stumbled upon the weirdest thing i've ever seen.
on a spotify radio this week, 1 song annoyingly kept playing. except every time I looked, it was a different song name and artist entirely.
so I started keeping track. here's 49 of them.

WE HAVE ARRIVED AT THE CONCLUSION
spotify isn’t profitable due to high licensing fees from labels. but they might be trying to shift listening time from majors to generative music that costs them less to license or even MAKE in order to BE profitable

to make matters weirder, when you click on the writing credits, it's comprised of completely different names on each one.
all of the songs have come out between now and last august.

this website has a collection of 1,944 albums by SKY TECH DISTRIBUTION, the only label mentioned in some of the song credits.
all the music is clearly 100% generative, as are the names and the artwork 😀 qobuz.com/gb-en/label/sky-te…
Could not be prouder of New York’s youngest representative (and someone I’m lucky to call a friend), Council Member Chi Ossé, who harnessed TikTok and Instagram over the last year and a half to overcome the real estate lobby and pass a bill ending forced broker fees in NYC.
in just 4 weeks since launching a slate of original shows on TikTok, we’ve gotten 30M views, 4M likes, & over 350K followers
we did this
- on accounts that all had 0 followers
- w/o spending $1 on promotion
- on a shoestring budget
- w a 5 person team whose avg age is 21
A year ago, I produced 3 TikTok shows with a three person team and an $18K budget. They got 150M views and 800K followers in >2 months. I knew then what I know now: this is the future of television.
Thanks to some of our biggest believers, we're making that future a reality.
ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL has
- Mahershala Ali cosplaying as Morpheus
- Jennifer Connelly wearing an Infinity Stone as a bindi
- Incredibly violent dismemberments in a film where characters curse by saying “crap!”
- A main character who looks like a DeviantArt sketch of Christina Ricci
Forcing a Chinese company to sell its IP to a US-owned company bc of its success is the least American least capitalistic idea I can think of.
If the CCP told Apple its Chinese division had to be Chinese owned, Apple would cease operating in China. Get your head out of your ass.
TikTok would literally rather shut itself off from its largest market, than divest its ownership from the CCP.
To put it bluntly, these are not the actions of a rational corporation. They're giving the entire game away on who REALLY calls the shots.
Do you have ideas on how to make NYC better? Or are you just going to keep posting videos pretending you’re a normal person and hope that works for you
.@kareemy sat on the idea for this series for two years
nobody in traditional hollywood wanted to pick it up
in five days it’s gotten three million real views completely organically
tiktok isn’t social media, it’s television, and it’s coming for all of hollywood
A content creator gets into taxis and tells the driver to choose a place to go while keeping the meter running.
Leads to him to meet Abdul a wholesome uncle who takes him to a Pakistani restaurant.
Love this series already
my thinking remains the same
- traditional hollywood is dead
- yes, the people actually want original content
- tiktok isn't social media, it's television
check the shows out, promise they’re worth at least a few minutes of ur time 🫡
we have some mad news. read on 👇
tldr: we raised $6m from incredible investors & the energy is immaculate at Mad Realities rn

VICE brought a whole new era of food shows and talent. Bourdain redefined the world altogether. And yet, SOMEHOW, we are living through the WORST ERA IN FOOD SHOW HISTORY. Food "CONTENT" on social is slop. It's biting into dripping food that we watch half asleep drooling at 3am.
BREAKING: A 9-0 Supreme Court UPHOLDS a court order requiring the Trump administration to bring a Maryland man, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, back to the U.S. after mistakenly deporting him to El Salvador. Deadline TBD. #SCOTUSdocumentcloud.org/documents/…
🚨⚠️ Unbelievably proud to finally announce: Gymnasium has partnered with @amazon for an entire RENOVATION SEASON OF BOY ROOM.
16 episodes starting THIS WEEK on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and X.
i fucking LOVED Telemarketers. on the surface you have this great investigation into scam telemarketing groups and the police unions who hire them, but underneath that you get a really touching buddy comedy about 2 unlikely coworker buds that spans 20 yrs
I also think this has something to do with the franchise being rebooted every few years. The Dark Knight trilogy was everything to us but Gen Z then got Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson Batman’s. I don’t think a lot of them are going back to watch it even though they should
🚖 KEEP THE METER RUNNING — watch @kareemy as he hops into NYC’s taxis and tells the drivers to take him to their favorite place in the city but to keep the meter running while they spend the day with each other

I know it’s easy to dunk on. But we’re dealing with the rise of authoritarianism in our country. We will not defeat it by shaming people who voted it. We need them on our side.
to close this out... we ended the slate w 70.5M views & ~8M likes, and with that, my time @madrealities comes to an end.
grateful to have been brought to nyc last year to experiment on the future of entertainment. incredibly excited for what's next 🌐🌐🌐

people need to stop drumming the line that quibi failed because you couldn't watch it on TVs -- hard to say that when TikTok is the biggest winner of 2020 -- quibi failed because it was bad in every way, shape and form
boy room started this morning with 145 followers, going to bed with almost 20k
the first two episodes couldn’t break 1k on tiktok (even though they had 200k on Reels). we tried a different edit in the third episode today and pressed upload
700k views. go @itsgymnasium
Most brands think they want social shows when they really just want ads.
Ads are not shows. Ads need paid spend.
Shows are not ads. Shows work organically.
The more you turn a show into an ad, the less it will work. If your brand creates a good SHOW, you will gain loyalty.
Why is Spotify sneaking in fake lo-fi tracks into our playlists?

boy room has only been out for 3 weeks with only 5 episodes and has a per episode viewership average of 965K
almost 100K followers between TikTok and Instagram, haven’t even uploaded to Shorts yet
we’ve got a hit
for the last 3 months we've been quietly building a new kind of TV studio @thefazeworld and @nicolaiarips stopped by our makeshift set to capture a day in the life for this month's @bylinebyline ★
TLDR I love my job and our shows and I hope you will too

I’m convinced ad agencies haven’t evolved from the year 2013. These ads all feel like a repeat of the last decade. Boring, expensive for zero reason, and relying on celebrity cameos that nobody cares about. At least Dunkin’ has cohesive brand ambassadors out of Affleck and Damon
one of the greatest filmmakers of all time spent $120M of his own money and sold a a majority stake in his wine empire to use a "percentage of the sale as collateral for a line of credit" to make this
we're so BACK
2.6M views and 250K likes on one of our latest Boy Room episodes featuring our partnership with Amazon Prime. Completely organic.
How’d we do this? A rare case of the partnership making the show better. We’re no longer just investigating men’s bedrooms, we’re fixing them too.
The future of print editorial is bright for those who can crack it
I bet it’s
less issues per year
more expensive
something to collect
with % of revenue going to writers (as it should be)
not a fat stack of irrelevant ads
True story: At 18, I went to the Cannes Film Festival for the 1st time. I had just become friends with an indie film producer and he told me if I found my way there, I had a couch to sleep on. I bought a flight.
I NEEDED business cards. The only problem: WTF do I put as my title
i was a club promoter in LA from 18-21
it taught me the single most important lesson:
the greatest thing you can offer someone is a good time.
to this day, i don't think any other life experience prepared me for my producing career
First week of @thefazeworld in the books☄️
Here’s what you maybe missed:
⁃ Launched 1st show @CWDynastyLLC (already at 26K TikTok followers💣)
- 2.5M+ total views across our accounts
- mobilized 100s to NY rent increase hearing 😶
- Raised $32K+ for Abdur, 1st driver from KTMR👇
