Mike Lee voted against the bipartisan infrastructure bill that will bring millions of dollars in investment to Utah and provide good-paying jobs to hundreds of his constituents.
In other words,
Lee says the quiet part out loud: if Trump wins, MAGA Republicans are going to implement the Project 2025 Agenda. That means restrictions on reproductive healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights, and social security.

GREAT NEWS! Phil Lyman’s voter suppression bill is dead! 🎉
It was just defeated in the House Government Operations Committee by a vote of 7-3.
This is a win for democracy and for Utah’s gold-standard elections system. 🗳
Reminder that Republicans couldn't seem to find time to even *debate* the bill ending the food tax this session, but they had time in the last two hours of session to pass an atrocious transgender athlete ban.
It's clearer than ever where their priorities are.
#utpol#utleg
You must have a very short memory, because YESTERDAY you voted against $28 million to address the shortage.
And we’ll continue to remind you of that fact every time you use it to score political points.
Nearly half of America's baby formula is out of stock. So what did Speaker Pelosi do this week?
She gave everyone in Congress a Peloton membership that could cost taxpayers an extra $100K per month.
America's parents need relief, @SpeakerPelosi. Bring my FORMULA Act to a vote.
If the Republican supermajority and @GovCox really care about keeping Utahns safe, why did they legalize permit-less concealed carry just last year?

BREAKING: Every Republican on the House Judiciary Committee just voted to pass out HB 467, which would close abortion clinics across the state and further limit access to abortion for survivors of rape and incest.
This blatant government overreach must be stopped.
#utpol#utleg
ALT Republicans Move Forward Cruel and Extreme Bill to Restrict Abortions Even Further
“Republican extremists in the legislature are now taking their efforts to force themselves into womens’ reproductive decisions a step further, trying to shutter abortion clinics and severely limit the ability of survivors of rape or incest as young as 13 to access abortion services. They may deny it, but it is painfully obvious that this is just the next step in Republicans’ plot to ban abortion without exception in the state of Utah. This blatant government overreach must be stopped.”

Utah’s GOP Congressmen have been all-too-happy to use the baby formula shortage as an excuse to attack President Biden, but today, they ALL voted against $28 million to help curb the shortage.

President Biden is one of the greatest leaders our country has known. His administration has made historic investments in our economy, defended democracy overseas, and fought for civil rights at home. We are sincerely thankful for everything he's done for our country.
Not only is this blatantly homophobic, but @UtahGOP Representative Trevor Lee is also demeaning hard-working single parents, telling them that they’re not good enough.
Unlike Lee, Utah Dems believe in supporting ALL Families.
In his State of the State address, @GovCox talked about the ways which Utah stands out from the rest of the nation.
But there are a few statistics he forgot to mention.
If only Republicans were more focused on these issues than nakedly political culture wars.

ALT “Spencer Cox rushing to make these divisive bills some of the first he signs this year is a perfect demonstration of the kind of governor he has become. Rather than placing common sense and good public policy over red meat culture wars, he has completely caved to the right wing of the Republican party in an effort to keep his political career alive.
“While Governor Cox might think it’s no big deal to throw vulnerable Utahns under the bus to secure his party’s nomination, there are real consequences to these culture wars, and real impacts which will be felt by communities of color and the LGBTQ community. We deserve a governor who will work for the better of ALL Utahns, and that’s why we’re working to defeat Spencer Cox and elect Brian King in November.”

ALT August 21, 2024, Salt Lake City - Utah Democratic Party Chair Diane Lewis released the following statement today.
“The Republican Supermajority claims they want to preserve representative government, but today, they showed that their real priority is holding onto power - no matter how many Utahns they have to steamroll to do so. To stop this power-grab, Utahns of every party must turn out and vote ‘No’ on the proposed amendment this November.”
Mike Lee is back to his favorite hobby: threatening to shut down the government if he doesn't get his way.
Utahns are sick of it. Senator, you should consider actually doing your job rather than throwing a temper tantrum over a measure meant to keep people safe.
Utah was just ranked 50th in women's equality, for the ELEVENTH year in a row. Our leaders' priorities are completely out of touch, and they continue to lead our state in the wrong direction. We need change.
We’re taking the Utah Way to the national stage – the idea that we can find ways to come together and get things done. We must learn how to #DisagreeBetter. And that is exactly what we intend to do this year as chair of the National Governors Association. Let’s get to work.
Republicans in the House just joined the Senate GOP in voting to unilaterally overrule local leaders and health departments in Salt Lake and Summit Counties.
Make no mistake: this will have real, adverse impacts on our communities, and we strongly oppose it.
#utpol#utleg
ALT Dark blue background with text reading: PARTY OF LOCAL CONTROL? UTAH REPUBLICANS UNILATERALLY OVERRULE LOCAL LEADERS AND HEALTH DEPARTMENTS: "This resolution is a complete and total affront to the role of local elected officials in making decisions that are right for their communities. With COVID-19 cases skyrocketing across the state, leaders in Salt Lake and Summit Counties, as well as Salt Lake City, used the authority given to them by the legislature just last year to institute temporary mask mandates, at the recommendation of local health departments, that will help mitigate the ongoing public health crisis. But Republicans at the Capitol decided that they know better than the experts and local leaders, and they bypassed the usual committee process to unilaterally impose their will on the people of Utah without even allowing a public hearing on the issue. The Republican Party cannot be trusted to respect the decisions of voters and the local leaders they’ve elected.”
Last month, after Republicans brutally gerrymandered our state, all Spencer Cox could muster was that we should just elect different people.

I am announcing today my re-election campaign to represent the people of Utah’s 2nd Congressional District. And I am asking for the support of all Utahns who share my belief that our state, and our nation, needs to embark on a course that empowers the American people.
Repeatedly using vulnerable communities as a political punching bag, as the supermajority has done, is shameful & self-serving. They unfortunately continued this pattern today, as the House passed HB257, banning trans people from public restrooms.
Our statement ⬇️
#utpol#utleg
ALT “The latest anti-transgender bill passed by the House, which bans members of the transgender community from using public restrooms corresponding with their gender identity, is a shameful, discriminatory attack on a community that is already extremely marginalized and vulnerable. Unfortunately, despite trans people making up just 1% of our state’s population, Republican legislators have spent a massively disproportionate amount of time legislating their basic human rights.
“Not only does House Bill 257 perpetuate harmful and dangerous stereotypes about transgender Utahns, it is also not based on any facts or data, which the sponsor herself admitted. Repeatedly using vulnerable communities as a political punching bag, as the supermajority has done, is shameful and self-serving, and Utahns will hold extreme Republicans accountable for their votes in November.”

All talk, all friendly on Twitter, then the wrong choices — that’s just how @SpencerJCox rolls.
Gov. Cox is failing Utah and our neighbors by ending pandemic unemployment benefits. COVID-19 is far from over, and treating it like it is will only exacerbate it.
The GOP's extreme anti-DEI bill just passed the House Education Committee.
We oppose this bill, and we stand with Utah's communities of color against these political attacks. We call on Republicans like @GovCox to remember their commitments to fighting racism.
#utpol#utleg
ALT “Three years ago, state and community leaders of both parties came together in a commitment to fight back against systemic racism. Unfortunately, House Bill 261 represents a major deviation from that commitment, and a huge step backwards for our state. These out-of-touch culture wars are a betrayal of our Utah values: love for our neighbors, determination to allow everyone a fair shot at success, and embracing, not ignoring, our differences.”
-Chair Diane Lewis
Today is #EidAlFitr, and we wish Muslims across Utah a peaceful holiday.
While so many celebrate the end of Ramadan, we do not forget those in Sheikh Jarrah. Attacks on worshippers at the Al-Aqsa mosque remind us that threats to religious freedom anywhere threaten us all.
The violence & assault on our nation’s democracy being experienced in the Nation’s Capital today & echoed outside our state's, must come to an end. We call upon all of Utah’s leaders & upon all Utahns to join in support of a path forward without additional violence and sedition.
So what you’re saying is that oil and gas companies can easily reduce prices when they want to?
(Also, you voted against a bill to crack down on gas price-gouging, so you should maybe sit this one out.)

The vast majority of Utahns vote by mail and have high confidence in its security. So why are Mike Lee and other Utah Republican politicians standing with Donald Trump in trying to get rid of it?
ALT Donald Trump, Mike Lee, and other Republican politicians want to end Utahns' ability to vote by mail. Utah Democrats are fighting to protect and expand Utahns' ability to securely and easily vote by mail.
As per usual, @SpencerJCox would rather talk the talk about concern for COVID-19 than walk the walk and actually support a policy that will save lives.
Vaccines have proven to be the most effective measure we can take to reduce the strain on our hospitals and save lives. However, requiring employers to force these decisions upon their employees is not the proper role of government and should not become the new precedent.
ALT White text on a blue background reads:
“The president's unilateral decision to force American businesses to mandate COVID-19 vaccines as a condition of employment grossly exceeds his authority. Not only is this mandate contrary to his previous promises, but this declaration violates the principles and processes that are the bedrock of good government. As elected officials, we will not turn a blind eye to this power grab and will do our part to uphold the principles of separation of powers and individual liberty.”
