Unsurprisingly Apple had some fintech announcements at its annual WWDC and this year the big one was for P2P payments with "Tap to pay for Apple Cash" or Tap to Cash as they call it.
It gives Apple Cash customers the ability to pay for things by tapping together a pair of iPhones with the highlighted use case being paying friends for dinner.
As with many of these developers conferences there are obviously a few steps missing but the flow looks dreamy as you’d expect from Apple UX.
Although this is touted as a Venmo rival, it’s far from it, as it’s a use case that is only available for Apple Cash customers (currently only US Apple users) who are serviced by Green Dot Bank and require users to go through full bank onboarding.
They already have payment links so curious to see what’s next and if a UK/EU launch plan of Apple Cash is in the works…

I'm looking for an alternative. We have >200k contacts and simply *storing* them is so unbelievably expensive despite using only a fraction of our email budget (we rarely send marketing emails).
Looking at @resend right now. It's cheaper but still scales only with contacts. I'm ok with that but I want to avoid switching again in 2 years.

Das geht so an der Realität vorbei, dass ich mir schwer vorstellen kann, dass es zwischen Linken und Unternehmern auch nur 1% Schnittmenge gibt.
Gestern wurde bei Hart aber Fair über die hohen Lebenshaltungskosten diskutiert.
Linken-Chef Jan van Aken wird gegenüber dem Aldi-Gründer Theo Albrecht ausfällig: "38 Milliarden Euro hat er nur auf dem Konto, weil er es anderen weggenommen hat.“
Die Wahrheit ist: Menschen kaufen gerne und freiwillig bei Aldi ein, weil es dort gute Qualitäten zu günstigen Preisen gibt.
Unternehmer wie Theo Albrecht verbessern die Lebenssituationen der Menschen. Wir brauchen mehr Unternehmertum in Deutschland.
Nur durch hohen Wettbewerbsdruck ist die Lebensmittel-Branche effizient organisiert und die Gewinnmargen sind in der gesamten Lieferkette gering.
Der Konsument profitiert.

Ich kann es ehrlich gesagt nicht mehr nachvollziehen, dass kein einziger VW Manager der was zu sagen hat qualitative Software zumindest erkennen kann - das nutzt und sagt: “Sorry Leute, das liefern wir so nicht aus”.

Bin im neuen Volkswagen ID.3 von meinem Bruder mal etwas durch die Menüs gesurft. Ich habe an drei Stellen im System Möglichkeiten zum Software & Apps aktualisieren gefunden. Vom dritten Ort habe ich kein Foto, weil ich es nicht noch mal dahin geschafft habe. Ich habe den Menüpunkt einfach nicht wiedergefunden...
Die Aktualisierungen gingen aber auch erst, nachdem man zigmal irgendwelche Datenschutzbestimmungen akzeptieren musste. Teilweise musste man erst einen QR-Code mit dem Handy scannen, um dann dort die Bestätigung zu erteilen. Auch wenn es inzwischen die Software 5.4 ist, und das System wenigstens schnell reagiert, weil anscheinend etwas mehr Geld für einen halbwegs schnellen Prozessor investiert wurde, fühlt es sich leider einfach sehr "zusammengebastelt" und überhaupt nicht "aus einem Guss" an.
Ich wollte die Systemversion herausfinden. Normalerweise hätte ich erwartet, dass man diese unter Einstellungen > Informationen findet. Falsch gedacht. Da stehen zwar zahlreiche Versionsnummern, aber nicht die der ID-Software, über die alle reden. Denn dafür gibt es eine extra App mit dem Namen "ID Version"... Die habe ich dann durch Zufall gefunden. Die Aktualisierung der ID-Software stößt man aber im eben genannten Informationsmenü unter den Einstellungen an, in dem die Versionsnummer der ID-Software eben nicht zu finden war. Why?
Es tut mir wirklich leid, aber das ist weiterhin ziemlich grausam und ich verstehe nicht, dass es bei VW anscheinend niemanden gibt, der so was mal geradebiegt.
Bei Tesla bist du auch nicht von Anfang an komplett zu Hause. Ein paar Punkte muss man vielleicht auch mal suchen. Aber man verrennt sich nicht in 12 Untermenüs und der Rest ist zu 90 % intuitiv.
Nächster Punkt: "Die Software wird aktualisiert".
Ja danke für die ausführliche Information! Was für eine Software? Was ist neu? Wie lange dauert das? Ist das fertig bis zum Sonnenuntergang? Mein Bruder wollte auf Starten klicken. Habe sofort interveniert und ihn gebeten, das bitte zu machen, wenn wir nicht noch von der Ladesäule nach Hause fahren müssen. Denn ich will nicht nach Hause laufen müssen, weil irgendeine Softwarekomponente drei Stunden aktualisiert wird.
Ich bin ein digitaler Mensch, der den halben Tag mit Software verbringt und würde mich durchaus als technikaffin bezeichnen. Aber bei der ID-Software fühle ich mich manchmal so wie ein Rentner, der von seinen Enkeln das erste Smartphone bekommen hat. Ziemlich überfordert, weil es einfach sehr wenig intuitiv und unlogisch gestaltet ist.
Die Shortcuts oben am Displayrand kannst du per "gedrückt halten" editieren. Das Dashboard selbst nicht. Dafür muss man dann wieder in Untermenüs, um das zu editieren.
All das hier ist mir bereits nach ca. 15 Minuten aufgefallen. Jetzt kann man sagen, man gewöhnt sich daran und findet sich besser zurecht. Das glaube ich auch. Aber gerade Funktionen, die man nicht oft benötigt, wird man suchen müssen, wenn sie gebraucht werden. Software darf im Jahr 2025 nicht so sein, dass ich für die einfachsten Funktionen in die Bedienungsanleitung schauen muss.
Ich möchte das gar nicht übermäßig schlechtreden, aber es ist schwer nachzuvollziehen, wie so zentrale Funktionen so verschachtelt und inkonsistent gestaltet werden können, ohne klare Nutzerführung.
Bin ich zu kritisch?
