For ages, people have speculated whether NFL kickers lower their trajectory for longer FG attempts. So do they?
The answer is: A tiny bit, but it’s rather insignificant.
The difference between the average height@LOS for kicks at 20-29 yds and 60+ yards is only a foot. In general, kickers are taught to hit the same ball whatever the distance. The data suggests that this is pretty much the case as well - at least at the NFL level.
Ball speeds stay somewhat around the same level as well up until 60+ yds where the avg. speed does increase.
