Today, we @JoinPond released our vision blog to explain what we are doing now and what we will be doing next. Here’s what it means: If you study history, you’ll realize that every cycle of technological adoption comes in pairs and forms a kind of equilibrium within a system. I learned this from an Oxford professor who is one of the world’s leading art historians on Leonardo da Vinci when I was in college. If you dig deeply enough, you will see that the nature of crypto is programmable money and the crypto market is a secondary market. It allocates resources rather than creating productivity. What creates productivity is applications in real world and we are bringing these applications to launch with crypto and use crypto to create a new business model beyond SaaS. Stripe accelerated the SaaS subscription model by serving as an online payment tool. Crypto, as another form of programmable payment tool - and as programmable money itself - will create new business models beyond SaaS for software applications. Internally, we call this Crypto-as-a-Service (CaaS). To fully achieve CaaS, smart contracts are a bottleneck. Education in the AI market is a bottleneck. Correcting the “crypto is a scam” impression among real AI builders is also a bottleneck. Many actors have damaged the industry’s reputation, but we will do our best to restore it. The journey is lonely but fortunately we have people like @devanshmehta @austingriffith @oel4all @DavideCrapis and more from @ethereum @ethereumfndn that are pushing crypto forward. We are very pleased and honoured to work with them. To me, understanding the nature of things is essential. In Socrates’ words, the nature of a matter is everlasting and invisible, while everything built on top of it is constantly changing. If you think of the crypto market as a programmable market, it cannot exist on its own or create productivity by itself. It must draw real productivity into the system so it can function and allocate resources efficiently - to do its job as a market. Pond has always been deeply focused on creating productivity and value, and on how we can benefit others. The fundamentals - and how things are actually done correctly - matter more. Innovation takes courage, but what it truly requires is an understanding of the underlying nature of things and the determination to make it work. On a flight right now, so I'll start my shitposting, which I haven't done in a while, along with sharing some insights we've gained from @PondGNN: 1. On-chain data remains a messy and chaotic environment. Despite having excellent data service providers in the space, some structured data is still missing. We believe that as demand increases, this gap will gradually be filled. 2. On-chain data labeling is a significant challenge. While it's understandable that big projects can't share data labels, small projects often struggle to provide convincing labeling verification methods. We need more collective services like @walletlabels, and we're eager to contribute to the community as well. 3. Each step of on-chain model development requires dedicated research and experimentation, as this area is largely unexplored. Sometimes, the difficulty exceeds our expectations. 4. On-chain models will be fascinating. We've already seen many crypto-native, intent-based ideas and explorations in the industry. Well done, everyone! 5. On-chain ML is being adopted, but progress is slow on both the research and demand sides. While everyone recognizes the potential value, adoption requires effort and a slow learning curve. The demand side is slowly catching up, but detailing the ML requirements can be mentally exhausting as most of cases haven’t been explored before. However, there's a lot of hope, and we're pushing forward thanks to pioneers in the industry like @0xDeltaHedged, @0xmikko_eth, and @infinitegardenX. This is a huge fan moment for me—we couldn't be more grateful to them. 6. On-chain consumer applications and AI are unstoppable trends, and now is the best time to get involved. Many use cases are waiting to be explored. It's definitely a challenging but incredibly exciting space to be in. You can clearly see this from the tweets of @fkpxls and @coinbase—they've done an incredible job and are working super hard behind the scene ensuring the future is on-chain.

Weekdays are usually packed with an endless stream of messages, so weekends are the rare chance I get to plan, learn, reflect, and tune out the noise. The whole team has been climbing uphill over the past two months, and now August is shaping up to be a defining month - a moment for us to truly shine. Last week was incredible. My full story from @token2049 (please share yours if you have a better one): Over the past three days, I spent 15 hours flying from New York to Dubai. I was stuck on a plane for 6 hours and then stranded at Oman Airport for 2 days. Yesterday, I found one guy to share an Uber ride with for 12 hours from Oman to Dubai. Along the way, we picked up another person, and we crossed three different borders because Dubai's borders were closed. Eventually, we lied and said we are going Abu Dhabi and then found an off-the-map route to reach Dubai. Finally, we arrived in Dubai at 3 AM. And that's not even the best part... The best part is that due to lack of sleep, I went to the wrong hotel room without realizing it until this morning. Am I qualified to be the best story of Dubai this time?

Having dinner at 9 again after a 2.5-hour meeting with the team. I feel like I’m the same person I was two years ago - hustling, energetic, full of ideas and drive. If bigger, similar players haven't figured something out, take this as a lesson rather than a competition. 2. Seek to deeply understand the core of things. Let that be your north star, not what others are doing. 3. A business model is the way of explaining a company from outsiders; it doesn’t build one. 4. Moats come from consistent execution in the right direction—they’re a result, not a starting point. Direction is everything.

Brainstorming a hackathon product idea with interns: The product is a MVP that helps people build MVPs. We heard complains of applications are just gpt wrappers so we are changing that. We don’t wrap gpt. We just use gpt api. A MVP that builds MVPs. Not a gpt wrapper.

Three days back in New York: two spent recovering from food poisoning. Worked hard today and made progress—spoiled our community, aligned with the team, had a 2.5-hour meeting, and did three property viewings. Im back to the trenches.
