Can anybody explain why Communist Red China has property rights so sacred that you can make the government build the highway around your house, whereas in the US of A you'd get bulldozed?
NEW: Grandfather says he "regrets it a bit" now that a highway was built around his house after he turned down $220,000 to move. Huang Ping of Jinxi, China, who lives with his grandson, now lives in the middle of a soon-to-be busy road. To access his home, Ping has to travel through a large pipe to get to his front door. "If I could turn back time, I would agree to the demolition conditions they offered. Now it feels like I lost a big bet. I regret it a bit," he said. Ping says his house sometimes vibrates from the ongoing work. The homeowner's roof is almost level with two lanes of the road. His house is also now a tourist attraction.

From my new post at SteveSailer dot Net: "Vivek Ramaswamy shares with us painful memories of his being cheated out of his rightful status as the most popular boy in high school in Ohio. America needs a culture where the spelling bee champ gets the hot blonde girls!" Link below
The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

The Anglosphere went nuts ideologically over mass immigration in the early 2020s, and Canada, Australia, etc are now paying the price in terms of unaffordable homes and other supply and demand driven side-effects.
I'm in Australia, which in terms of economic and immigration policy, is Canada without the permafrost. Of the 20 most expensive cities in the world for housing, five are Australian: smh.com.au/politics/federal/…

I'm often asked why I'm so weird. What kind of bizarre, hidden personal flaws would cause a pundit to allow himself to become well-informed about the findings of the social sciences on topics like race? Why can't I be more normal like, say, famous moderate Noah Smith?

There will be a hit piece about me in The Guardian soon by that Wilson guy. It sounds like it will be low brow point and sputter.

We've had 56 years of affirmative action, so I'd say the answer is: No.

Why did American refer to famous political people by three initials for about 50 years? FDR, JFK, LBJ, RFK, MLK, WFB? We also called the US the USA in the middle of the 20th Century. But nobody called Reagan RWR. How come?
President @realDonaldTrump signs an Executive Order to declassify the JFK, RFK, and MLK Jr. files!

Justice Ketanji fell for the fallacy that black doctors help black babies survive better than white doctors. In reality, black doctors are less likely to be top specialists, so they get easier cases on average than white doctors, so their patients tend to die less.
Justice Jackson’s clerks let her down for failing to citecheck: she parrots a mathematically incorrect claim from an amicus brief. I refuted it in detail when the brief was released in this October thread. Already, MSM sources are repeating the slander.

The NYT last mentioned Harold Haley, the judge whose head was blown off in 1970 by the shotgun Angela Davis bought two days earlier, in 1986. Since then, the Times has written about Angela Davis more than 400 times without mentioning the murdered judge by name once.

Where did all the white male authors go? Everyone can sense a healthy cultural vibe shift in 2024, but the institutional damage done to publishing by the decade of the Great Awokening is far from over, as a census of the NY Times' 100 Notable Books list for 2024 shows.

In contrast, few of 2020's 500+ leftist riots in the name of George Floyd made it off the local TV news. On local if-it-bleeds-it-leads news, there were countless hours of arson and pillage, but the carefully curated national news relayed a minimum of Mostly Peaceful Protests.

Yeah, the artificial intelligence program distorted reality by making the Muslim grooming gang preying on the English girl look much more handsome and friendly than the ubiquitous Pakistani grooming gangs in northern England typically look. For example: bbc.com/news/uk-england-4591…

It's striking how much hate progressives project. I point out that the Obama Administration weakened the validity of the Air Traffic Controller hiring exam to increase black hiring, and now, unsurprisingly, the FAA is having trouble getting enough new hires to pass training.

The New York Times has been running a big series of articles on the growing incompetence of air traffic control leading to a surge in near-misses. Several pundits pointed out in response how Obama lowered standards in ATC hiring to hire more blacks. takimag.com/article/die-in-t…

We all can remember when Donald Trump's forces repeatedly looted the sneaker shops of blue cities in the summer of 2020.
Donald Trump governed as a “wartime president” in his first term—with blue cities and states as his adversaries, @RonBrownstein writes. A similar agenda in 2024 “could create the greatest threat to the nation’s cohesion since the Civil War.” theatlantic.com/magazine/arc…
