In news that does not surprise, @Apple continues to struggle in its quest to develop (and ultimately replace) #modems made by @Qualcomm. The best headline I saw on this front (and I can't find it for an attribution) was something along the lines of "Apple Chips Fail to Bear Fruit" — a good one, right? #wordsmithgeeksunite
In any event, this is a case of #Apple, learning what #Qualcomm already knows — amazing #chips don't just happen to get developed overnight. And #modems play an integral role when it comes to mobile devices (whether customers realize that or not).
@markgurman's coverage for Bloomberg @technology does a great job of summarizing the long, and sometimes tumultuous, relationship between the two tech giants, and how the company's reliance on Qualcomm modem chips might well last longer than anticipated.

Very much appreciate Brian Stout's candor as he discussed challenges and how the company is addressing those, and walked the press/analyst attendees at #webexone's event through the company's simplified sales strategy.
Some key high points:
- Recognizing the fact that #Collab is the biggest SaaS revenue generator for Cisco and leveraging that
- Building comp plans for portfolio sellers designed to make selling collab more attractive/compelling (salespeople wanna sell, when you put it all together in a better incentive package, customers win and sales wins)
- Having sales conversations beyond IT (which makes sense and brings add'l opps overall )
Looking forward to watching this play out from a numbers/marketshare standpoint.

@SAP Datasphere will run on GCP, bringing the data together, allowing users to have a unified view of both internal/external data, which is a an integral part of the business need.
What this does is make it a non-issue to migrate data from SAP Datasphere into GCP where you can integrate from external sources and run analytics that can be surfaced back in SAP -- This makes it makes it better because you get not just your own information, but you get enriched information FASTER. .@Webex recently announced the expansion of its portfolio focused on serving government orgs and, more importantly, the achievement of #FedRAMP moderate authorization for its Webex Contact Center Enterprise for Government.
In addition, the company announced that Webex for Government will be expanded, and will include Webex Calling, bringing Webex messaging, calling, and meetings functionality in one platform to government entities.
#Webex for #Government is likewise FedRAMP authorized and is expected to be available sometime later this year, joining Cisco’s Unified Comms Manager Cloud for Government, which is currently available and in use.
I believe this presents many opportunities for Cisco and that focusing on its strengths in the security arena is a very smart move for Webex, presenting an outsized opportunity to dominate by leveraging its strengths: the network and security for that network. And as I touch on in this article, security is a speed game, and one that the pros, of which Cisco certainly is, can capitalize on — and dominate.

I've gotta admit, once I started using @perplexity_ai a few months ago on the recommendation of a friend, it completely changed how I use (or if I use) search engines. I was thrilled to see Perplexity founder @AravSrinivas on stage this morning during @SwamiSivasubram's #AI keynote here at #reinvent
Perplexity is a conversational AI platform that not only answers your questions, but which also provides references to you in the form of citations.
No sorting through a bunch of (largely paid) links on search engines that may or may not be relevant — these answers are personalized and interactive, growing more so after more interactions.
Even more important, Perplexity is the first global publicly deployed example of #generative user interfaces that reduces the need for prompt engineering.
The impact of solutions like Perplexity should give Google pause — an alternative solution, and one that doesn't require massive $$ investment, SEO "magic" and beyond is, well big. Very big.
