Sovereign Shards is a major technological update for all the appChains in the #blockchain industry. This is a revolution which can be only done on #MultiversX. The Promise of MultiversX #MultiversX innovates the DeFi space and not only. You already heard how scalable the network is, how fast the VM executes and how SC are built using the RUST framework. We define more principles and see how they apply to the modern world of finance. True to the blockchain dream, all is about being permissionless (your keys, your funds), decentralized and open. Using the elements of smart accounts, build in tokens standards, enhances usability and composability. The #blockchain dream was about digital cash, so money with the same properties of cash. When transferring any kind of cash, there is no permission involved, and the sole decision for transferring is mine. Plus I do not have to execute any kind of contract to make the transaction. And a transaction is always transferAndExecute, the standard we use for all token transfers. Tokens scale with the system. 2. Faster, more TPS for token transfers. 3. No need to execute SC when making a transfer. 4. The Power of Composability One of the challenges for developing robust and scalable financial systems is to ensure interoperability and compatibility among different platforms and applications. Building becomes easier and safer. Writing bad code gets HARD. DeFi building blocks can be integrated into another without the need of contract calls. One can create a liquid staking protocol, create a liquidity pool of LSEGLD-EGLD in multiple AMMs/CMMs, add farms, add extra staking. One can use complicated positions to enter into lending/borrowing. Mix and match all those. With 0 interaction between the contracts, all through the power of tokenization. The true resolve for the train-hotel-restaurant problem. All of them independent, safe and secure. And super fast. As all critical contracts can exist in different shards, crunching processing power there. This is the POWER of COMPOSABILITY, enabled by a well defined standard. One more fun thing, the SC has to return an error and all reverts, token transfers back to users are handled by protocol, even if the SC is executing a complicated stack. Building routers/hubs gets simpler as well, the developer can do multiple synchronous executions, waiting for results and crashing if one result is not ok. All tokens are reverted to initial state. Also makes UX much simpler, user does not have to make multiple approve transactions before finally calling the action. Just transfer and make actions atomically. Proxy-Dex contracts can stay in the same shard as a DEX, execute multiple user operations and crash at any time they want, all being reverted to user. Feature BackTransfer We found that we can help developers, by changing some of the paradigms regarding SC to SC execution with payments. On old VM (EVM/SVM/MoveVM) if parentSC called childSC and childSC transferred back tokens to parents it must have called a “deposit” function and parentSC had to register that deposit into a storage. After that childSC execution is finished, we get back into the execution of parentSC and we have to read from storage what kind of transfers the child did towards itself. Another problem with this, is if parentSC is not payable by SC and childSC does not call deposit, only transfers, the execution will fail. So we decided to change the paradigm: When parent SC calls childSC and childSC does a set of transfers to the parent, the payable check is skipped for the parent. The check is skipped even if the parentSC called with asyncCall the childSC and even if childSC is in another shard vs the parentSC. Technically speaking: All transfers without execution from childSC to parentSC are accumulated in a new structure called backTransfers. In the end the parentSC can do the following: <payments, results> = ExecuteOnDest(child). This makes DeFi legoblocks easier to create. A guide for builders on how to properly create and manage inscriptions on #MultiversX MultiversX is a decentralized blockchain network that aims to revolutionize the way we interact with payments, DeFi, NFTs, AI and everything in real world applications and virtual worlds. Inscriptions could play a crucial role in the vision, enabling the creation of a rich and immersive virtual environment. Also, they are a powerful tool in order to keep track of history, ownership and existence of authenticated data. Everything that is saved and authenticated on blockchain, cannot be rewritten further in the line. So history is going to be safe. Think about safely saving hashes/cryptographic proofs of videos, audios, books, any official documents. All of those are inscriptions, and are in such a form that complete data and verification is off-chain. Practically speaking inscriptions are already on the MultiversX chain, almost from day 1, we have serious companies using txData to save into history tracking (packets, data, certificates). Specifications ▶️ Inscriptions are unique and indivisible tokens that can store arbitrary data, such as text, images, audio, or even other inscriptions. The storage should be kept on the txData, not saved into the trie, making it cheaper. Authentication of the data will come from indexers or a set of smart contracts. ▶️ Inscriptions have a unique identifier, such as a UUID or a random number. This prevents duplication and ensures the integrity of data. The validity of uniqueness is the job of an off-chain process, or at creation time, the job of a Smart Contract. ▶️ Inscriptions are stored on the blockchain, ensuring immutability and tamper-proof data storage. When a transaction containing an inscription is executed on the chain (it might mean only a transfer from user A to B), the complete transaction is saved in the blockchain database as executed transactions. And using the txHash which can be seen on the blockHeader, any off-chain application can identify the inscription. This ensures that the data stored in inscriptions cannot be altered or deleted. ▶️ Inscriptions can be owned by users, allowing them to control and manage the data within. ▶️Inscriptions can be transferred between users, enabling the sharing and exchange of data. The ownership history of inscriptions can be traced back to their creation, ensuring transparency and provenance. This is essential for tracking the ownership and usage of digital assets. ▶️Inscriptions can be used to create sophisticated applications, such as provenance tracking, ownership verification, and smart contracts. They can be programmed to interact with other smart contracts, enabling a wide range of functionalities. This allows for the creation of sophisticated applications that leverage the power of the blockchain. Or inscriptions can even act as self executing programs as well. Let’s get more technical and go step by step: 1. Create an inscription: a. Data Preparation: prepare the data that will be stored in the inscription. This can be of any type of data, such as text, images, audio, or even other inscriptions. The data should be in a format that can be serialized into a JSON object. 🔶Ensure the data is in a format that can be serialized into a JSON object. 🔶Sanitize the data to remove any malicious or invalid characters. 🔶Encode the data into a Base64 string for compatibility with the blockchain protocol. b. Signature Generation: generate a cryptographic signature for the inscription data. This signature will be used to prove that the inscription was created by the owner. It is generated using the owner's private key. 🔶Obtain the owner's private key. 🔶Create a hash of the inscription data using a cryptographic hash function, such as SHA-256. 🔶Sign the hash using the owner's private key. 🔶Convert the signature into a Base64 string for storage on the blockchain. 🔶Save the hash as an inscription identifier. c. Inscription Creation: submitting the inscription data, signature, and other metadata to the blockchain network. The blockchain will verify the signature and store the inscription on the ledger. 🔶Prepare a transaction object that includes the inscription data, signature, and other metadata. 🔶Sign the transaction object using the owner's private key. 🔶Broadcast the transaction to the MultiversX blockchain network. Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, the inscription is considered to be created and stored on the ledger. The creator becomes the owner of the inscription, and the inscription can be retrieved and transferred using the owner's public key. 2. Retrieval/validity of inscriptions: Once an inscription is created, an off-chain application needs to be created, to monitor the history and track the validity of such information. (Later, we can speak about how this tracking could be created in a smart contract, but that will mean more development, right now it is better to go through the off-chain process as it is needed anyway). Technically speaking, we need to use the indexer data, add a set of validity functions and create the new database of inscriptions. This database can always be recreated by running an import-db, meaning reprocessing the transactions as they were done by the validators. The order of transactions even right now can be taken from indexer/bigQuery implementations which are open sourced. As the transaction is indexed, the new program has to check whether it is an inscription (is txData an JSON with the needed 3 fields: identifier, data and signature). Owner check: owner field is equal with sender, Signature check: inscription data signed by owner. Also check in case of new inscription creation (sender == destination), that identifier (which is hash of Data) is unique. Only if all these checks go through, then you can add the inscription to the inscriptions DataBase. Furthermore, every inscription has to keep all its tracking data. From their original owner, to the latest owner. As in the end, this is the way a user can determine whether an InscriptionNFT is the bluechip/official one or not. 3. Transfers of an inscription: The workings of the owner field. 🔹To ensure that inscriptions cannot be created or transferred by anyone other than the owner. The owner field is used to validate the signature of the inscription, which ensures that only the owner can create or transfer the inscription. 🔹To allow for the tracking of the ownership history of an inscription. The owner field is stored on the blockchain, which allows anyone to see who the current owner of an inscription is. This can be useful for applications such as provenance tracking and ownership verification. 🔹To facilitate the creation of smart contracts that manage inscriptions. Smart contracts can use the owner field to determine who is allowed to perform certain actions on an inscription, such as transferring ownership or modifying the data. The ownership of an inscription is immutably stored on the blockchain, and the owner field is used to verify that the person transferring the inscription is actually the owner. It ensures that inscriptions can only be transferred to authorised recipients, and it provides a tamper-proof record of the ownership history of each inscription. 🔹In transaction 1, Alice creates an inscription and sets herself as the owner. The owner field is set to Alice's address, which is a unique identifier that can be used to verify her ownership of the inscription. 🔹In transaction 2, Alice transfers the inscription to Bob. The owner field is updated to Bob's address, which means that Bob is now the owner of the inscription. This change is recorded on the blockchain, and it is impossible to change the owner field without the owner's private key. Example: examining the ownership history of a CryptoPunk inscription is a crucial step in verifying its authenticity. By tracing the provenance of the inscription back to its creation, you can determine whether it was originally created by the official creator of CryptoPunks. If the inscription can be traced back to the original creator, then there is a strong likelihood that it is authentic. However, if the inscription has been transferred or altered in any way, then its authenticity may be compromised. Next, let’s discuss trading: Escrow and Payment: An escrow service can be used to facilitate the transaction. The escrow service will hold the ordinal until the buyer has paid the agreed-upon price. Once the payment is received, the escrow service will transfer the ordinal to the buyer. Threshold signature over an account like this can boost its security. Digital Marketplace: One of the harder things on the smart contract is that you cannot actually verify the list of ownership of the inscriptions as it was saved only on txStorage which is not accessible by the SC. One developer could rely on oracles to validate every inscription deposit, but it can cost a lot of gas. Instead of this, the SC could accept simply all the inscriptions thrown at him, and in the frontend the user will see the reliable data. 1⃣ Inscription Listing: - Inscription Description: The seller provides a detailed description of the inscription, including its identifier, type, data, and any relevant metadata. This helps potential buyers understand the inscription and its value. - Desired Price: The seller sets a desired price for the inscription, which reflects their assessment of its value and the market conditions. This price is displayed on the marketplace for prospective buyers to see. Marketplace saves data as Alice listed Inscription 0x123. If the same inscription is deposited by Bob as well, on withdrawal of inscriptions, each user can only withdraw the inscription they themselves deposited. In this case, on the marketplace both Inscriptions 0x123 can exist, one has the previous Owner of Bob and the other to Alice. So on withdrawal, Alice will withdraw only the inscriptions whose previous owner is herself. 2⃣ Bidding Process: - Buyer's Interest: Interested buyers can view the listing and express their interest by submitting bids. The bid amount represents the maximum price they are willing to pay for the inscription. - The Buyer will not only Bid for inscription 0x123, but for Inscription 0x123 whose previous owner is Bob - Bidding Competition: The marketplace automatically compares bids and determines the highest bidder. 3⃣Smart Contract Execution: - Bid Acceptance: Once the smart contract identifies the highest bidder, it triggers the acceptance of the bid. This initiates the process of transferring ownership of the inscription to the buyer. - Payment Processing: The smart contract will facilitate the payment process. - Inscription Transfer: Upon successful payment, the smart contract transfers ownership of the inscription to the buyer. This update is recorded on the blockchain, reflecting the change in ownership. 4⃣ Ownership Transfer and Completion: - Updated Ownership Record: The blockchain maintains an updated record of the inscription's ownership, reflecting the transfer from the seller to the buyer. - Transaction Confirmation: The buyer receives confirmation of the transaction, including the inscription identifier, the purchase price, and the updated ownership record. I get that SUI with Move has a good dev experience compared to EVM and Solidity, but there is still one more level on top of that. And that is the #MultiversX stack. No ofense, but Move is still from a failed project of Meta while WASM has all the benefits and primitives for the ultra scalable decentralised world. WASM is just faster, safer and more developer friendly as start. Use any language to develop on that. WASM runs in sandbox in any single device. WASM can do Smart Contracts, microservices and frontends as well. All can be totally decentralised, the last 2 running on users device. SpaceVM encapsulates WASM and gives a few super powers to it, like managed memory (buffers), built in crypto, big int, big float libraries, a lot of prebuilts of all kinds. On top of that, SpaceCraft SDK is the go to tool for all devs. Primarily focusing on Rust, it is the system with most features. Step by step debugging on SCs, a lot of code generations, any contract is an object, any token is an object, any input/output is an object, a storage is an object. SpaceCraft SDK will integrate Swift language as well, maybe more on this later. But it will generate frontends and microservices by default. Time to build more!

What we can say for sure, it is that #MultiversX is a technology maximalist. Especially when it comes to how we think about development, we aim for continuous improvement, non stop research, building edge technologies. We started building from point 3. Sharding. As without it, there is no complete scalability. Because of that, we were forced to make design choices, which proved to be amazing, like the in-protocol token standard $ESDT and enshrining token transfers at all levels. These tokens resolve composability, interoperability, eliminate re-entrancy and wallet draining phishing attacks (approve/increase allowance bug). Also, scaling is not only about tx processing, but storage and network as well. Not all dApps need atomic access to all other dApps. Actually only a tiny percentage of SCs need instant access, these are especially those involving DeFi, but even there, most processes can be done in async way. Point 1. But, as we are constantly searching for new ways to improve and as we see a lot of opportunities on developing on #blockchain we couldn’t ignore the need for custom appchains (not for scaling, but for special applications - like games, IOT 4.0, institutions and more). Although it was possible from day zero to create “L2s” by copying what Ethereum L2s are doing, for example bridging and sequencers, and it is still possible. We knew we can create something more meaningful and more powerful, thus created SovereignShards. No more bridging, simply using cross shard transaction processing mechanism and putting that into the Sovereign Node processing components. Tens of benefits for doing it: seamless user interactions, interoperability and composability between all dApps, no wrapped tokens. And for point 2, parallelization of txs, we had some great breakthroughs in research in 2023, and we aim to implement and launch parallel tx processing in every shard in 2024. All without the need of access list (obliging developers to write all state which is going to be accessed in the time of the tx execution, this is Solana’s approach). So easier development, complex tx ordering into batches which can be executed in parallel and actual execution. So if there is any new technology, which is groundbreaking and it fits our architecture and design thinking, we most certainly research and implement it. Perfection can be achieved only through non stop developing. I tend to mute people as it does not trigger them. First of all, we understand that people are frustrated because of the price action of $EGLD and people try to find out what did the team wrong. The answer to that is complicated, it is not one thing, it is not only communication. You can have the best communication with a stupid product and you get nowhere. The games in crypto, played on CEXs is hardcore, there is a lot of shorting, attacks, without reasons. Just saying out loud. If your tech is too good, you are not invited to debates, as there is nothing to debate. Furthermore, although we get that people are frustrated, but imagine a developer, team member who pushes 60-80hours per week just to enter Twitter and read all the non sense FUD. Yep, first reaction is to block. Why? Because you do not need the stupid negative energy when you work your ass off. We like feedback. We like negative feedback, we thrive on that as we can improve a lot. But, it is easy to read what is FUD. And you get nervous, as a developer. You do 2 choices, never enter twitter anymore, and mute/block all these people. Being considerate will bring also more communication from the team as well. Even if the writings are negative, but only if they are no nonsense FUD. And yes, as one of Einstein story says, people will remember the mistakes. Probably will make those bigger than it seems. And people will try to find what is the problem. Personally, I like when people write feedback, even when it is negative, it makes me think how to solve those. That is how inscription NFTs, dynamic NFTs, migration from SP to SP, guardians, backtransfers and tons of other features have been born. But I get mad 😡 when people write out clear stupidities and I know that even they know that this was a clear FUD message, nothing else. And especially when they are even arrogant about it. Fortunately, God, my family, the team behind MultiversX and the mission of #MultiversX is bigger than all the FUD. Will this trigger a conversation as big as some FUD posts, probably not. Capable of ~4,000 DEFI/Gaming TPS, with an average of $0.x USD paid in any custom defined native gas token, and 100% EVM compatible, a Sovereign Chains based Ethereum L2 would be state of the art. What makes it stand out further would be significant improvements to security, such as On-Chain 2FA, no re-entrancy or wallet drain attacks by design. Notably, the architecture does not rely on any sequencers, so such an L2 would be decentralized and impervious to MEV. The Story of SovereignChain SDK We have started developing the SovereignChain SDK in summer of 2023 and presented a really basic version of it on xDay 2023, that was only a proof of concept, put together as a demo only. In May 2024 we have launched the alpha version of SovereignChain SDK with >70K TPS, and with some bugs. Summer of 2024 was about bugfixing and configuration of the SDK. It was also about researching different models of launching, and offer those as possibilities to the community. Like reStaking, settlement layer, different type of bridging, cross chain interoperability. Since May we have started multiple discussions with different teams who showed interest in building on top of SovereignChain SDKs. Explaining the vision, explaining the possibilities, and asking the teams what is the most important features they want to have, most important metrics. But it was the job of each such project to ask/request for features. The status of the code in June 2024 on the SDK made it possible for anyone to start working on their own solution, ask questions, try out things and report back with bugs. In September 2024, we have fixed all the known major bugs, since then the SDK is stabilised, every day/week we have non stop testing on the SDK with super complex scenarios. The last months were about adding more customisability to the base code, more components which can be swapped in and out from a simple configuration file. On top of that we were working on optimising the built-in cross chain composability component, making it faster, safer, work for all type of assets, have all integration into all the tools. So in the end, since the end of May, any project could start to develop their custom solutions on top of the SDK, get feedback and help from the foundation and apply for grants as well. If we look for any L2 built on top of Optimism SDK / Cosmos SDK, we see that they start coding at least 6 months before a testnet, and they have around 6 months on the testnet before going to mainnet. Wrote this to manage the expectations. What are we doing next? As we finished the beta version of the SDK, the code will enter into an audit phase from middle of January. And in the meantime we are going to code further the next features and the next customisability components. We will add native settlement layer, native exit tries, also native interoperability with other chains as well (integrating general interoperability solution directly to the SDK). These are the plans. Time to build.

MultiversX powered by $EGLD is decentralised, secure and scalable, while having minimal node requirements. Comparing these numbers to other ecosystems it is easy to see that we have >10x less infrastructure cost vs Solana/SUI/Aptos, around 3-5x less cost compared to Cosmos SDK, Avalanche, Polygon. And yet, the system can handle similar or more TPS. Lower system requirements equal to lower energy usage, thus lower emissions, thus making the chain ever more green (the foundation is offsetting all the CO2). But why would you care? Running the system in consumer grade machines was in the vision of Satoshi. Everyone can verify everything happening on chain. Furthermore, deploying your own dApp will have 10-100x less infrastructure cost than those chains which require super high specs. This might not matter when there are points for infrastructure, but those go out in 1-2 years. Also, how can a developer (not from the West) launch their apps when infrastructure cost is >500$ per month? (And I am being generous here, as in most cases the cost is in the thousands or over 10k). How it is possible to scale and process 30K TPS with these machines? Short answer is innovation and engineering at every step. On every line of code. On every component. From storage to P2P to consensus to cryptography to VM to the whole journey of every TX. And yes, the SpaceVM is the fastest VM in the crypto space, the only one capable of running SC at almost bare machine speed (only 1.2-1.3x slower when SC is written in Rust, with Python the VM actually run it 3x faster). The chain which can grow the most, which can really grow with demand is #MultiversX
