Compounding. Economy & politics, investing, charts and irony. Born in Europe, made in USA. No investment advice. I’m not on Threads, Telegram, Bluesky etc.
Supporting Trump was not a popular thing with many of my friends and family members. I did it nevertheless.
If Trump really said that Ukraine started the war, I feel deeply ashamed for my naivety. I strongly assume that most decent people feel the same way.
Volodymyr Zelensky is NOT a dictator.
Vladimir Putin IS a dictator.
Zelensky didn’t start the war in Ukraine.
Putin did.
Hope this clarifies things for anyone who is confused.
Sorry Comrades „Economists“, Argentina has one of the fastest growth rates in the world, and almost no inflation anymore. Free market works, it works really fast.
Important chart. S&P 490 has had basically no earnings growth since 2022, despite rampant inflation. It’s just 10 companies doing really well, while the broader economy is in contraction in real terms.
Elon, please calm down. Sikorski was fighting Russian occupiers in Afghanistan when you were playing video games. Calling him small man is not appropriate.
BTW, nobody can win US presidential election without Polish community in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. Just relax.
Argentina under Javier Milei in 2025:
GDP growth 5.5%, one of the fastest in the world
Inflation down from 211% to 32%
Poverty rate down from 42% to 32%
Sorry Comrades „economists“, free market works, and it works really fast.
Congratulations @JMilei
Companies that pay their workers partly in stocks are probably the closest that has ever existed to the communist dream of workers owning the means of production. Isn’t it ironic?

What happened in Poland is nothing short of an economic wonder, its standard of living will surpass Japan this year.
Free market, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit are the only way to escape socialist misery and poverty. Congratulations Poland.
Germany is a strange country, it has slower internet speed than Romania, no growth for several years, rising unemployment, does nothing about it, but is lecturing others how they need to run their economies and societies.
Fix your country first and come back with green moralism.
You can think whatever you want about Milei, but taking Lufthansa flight to Davos while so many „ESG focused“ officials and executives come with private jets is exactly the right signal to send.
Holy smoke, almost half of Spain lives on less than €1,000 net per month?
Can someone please explain the logic behind Spain taking 5 million migrants during last decade? Wouldn’t reduction of the highest youth unemployment in Europe be more beneficial?
Germany is a strange country, it has slower internet speed than Romania, no growth for several years, rising unemployment, imploding industry, but is lecturing others how they should run their economies & societies. Folks, fix your country first and come back with green moralism.
Prices in Spain are not real. Three tasty dishes, water and three glasses of decent red wine.
This wouldn’t be even the tip in NYC. Make Europe Great Again, please help, go on holiday there 😁

What is different in Poland than in all these countries? And please don’t tell me that it’s different counting methods.
Amazing chart, Venezuela used to be wealthier than Poland. Poland introduced capitalism & free market principles, Venezuela followed socialism
Free market makes people wealthier, socialism always ends in bitter poverty and misery. Why are young people so fascinated by socialism?
It looks like Victor Orban will not only be sent into retirement soon, but that Hungarian opposition will get constitutional majority.
Anyone surprised? Hungary under Orban became one of the poorest countries in the EU, at some point enough is enough.
Spending few days in Germany.
My daughter has just completed an internship at a clinic here. She tells me that German clinics and hospitals really still communicate via fax machines with each other.
WTF happened to this country?
German approach to fight climate change:
1. Close nuclear power plants
2. Keep coal mines and coal power plants going instead
3. Underreport coal mines emissions by factor of 184
4. Make energy intensive industries not profitable in the process
Genius, simply genius
Can someone please explain how deindustrialization of the UK and Germany will save the planet?
I really struggle to understand why they sacrifice their industries and jobs only to outsource production to China which causes more global emissions. Does it make any sense to you?
It always makes me laugh when I see far right morons falling into Russian propaganda on social media portraying this deeply rotten country suffering under HIV, alcoholism, suicides, abortions, prostitution and divorces as the defender of Christian values.
Germany switching off its perfectly fine nuclear power plants, but keeping coal power plants instead to fight climate change in one picture. Enjoy your air quality.
During 40 years under socialism Poland‘s GDP barely changed. Switch to capitalism and free market in 1989 triggered an economic boom making Polish people much wealthier.
Socialism always means bitter poverty and misery for all. Why are young people so fascinated by socialism?
Just to put things in perspective, the GDP of Russia is the same size as Spain and Portugal, and less than the GDP of Italy. That’s it.
And before you come with PPP, two in five Russians don’t even have a decent toilet, and Poland exports more than Russia.
Germany is a rich country with poor people, it has lower median wealth per adult than Slovenia.
Germans rent instead of buying property, don’t own stocks, spend a fortune on insurances, and then blame „inequality“. Folks, you need to take some risk, if you want to get wealthy.
I have never understood the massive economic divide in Italy.
Why is the North with its various industries one of the wealthiest areas in Europe, but the South so extremely poor? Same country, same language, same laws and taxes. Can someone please explain?
No rare-earths = no defense
Outsourcing rare-earths supply to China was the biggest geopolitical mistake since WWII.
But we care about environment and rare-earths mining & melting is greener in China than in the US and Europe, right?
This chart makes me laugh each time I see it. Can you name something that caused more economic, geopolitical and environmental damage, than Germany‘s ideological decision to close its perfectly fine nuclear power plants?
Isn’t it amazing that Warsaw has achieved higher standard of living than Madrid, Berlin or Rome?
Polish economic miracle shows that free market, entrepreneurial spirit and hard work are the only proven way to escape socialist misery. And it’s also much safer there.
Venezuela used to be twice as wealthy as Chile. Then Chile followed Milton Friedman‘s ideas while Venezuela was ruled by socialists. Now Chile is the wealthiest large country in South America and Venezuela the poorest. Difference between capitalism and socialism visualized.

Unpopular opinion, as long as Asia is building two new coal power plants per week throwing tomato soup at Mona Lisa will have fairly limited impact on climate.
Milei‘s amazing success with his truly free market reforms is the absolute nightmare for the left green populists around the world. It’s much more than Argentina now, it shows that free market can end socialist misery. Legacy media will hate Milei even more.
Question for my German friends here.
What will happen there? Will the conservatives really build a government with communists, just to keep the AfD in opposition?
Argentina under Milei is the only G20 country which managed to have fiscal surplus, while everyone else is running deficits.
At the same time Argentina reduced unemployment, poverty rate, and became global growth champion. Other countries should follow free market principles.
