Was just thinking how crazy it would be if you played Eben at 4, PSDT at 5, Sia at 6, Duane at 7 and Wiese at 8. With Mosterd, Kwagga and RG on the bench. Absolutely nuts!
Probably one of the cleanest 70yd fieldgoals Ive hit in a training session. Its easier to get this sort of distance driving the ball low but to achieve it with great height is all the more challenging.
What are your thoughts on longer fieldgoals ?
Boys, contact isn't just on your foot. Make "contact" with your entire body. You're losing so much potential by focusing on how your foot meets the ball instead of how your body meets the ball.
Looking to be more balanced, free and natural during your swing? The answer is always more width. You cannot meet the ball with momentum if you're swinging at the ball and/or if your plant foot is too narrow. Do this drill immediately and dont stop untill you figure it out.
Major difference between a "fast leg" and a quicker swing path. Everyone can create a quicker swing path. There's a difference between what feels powerful and what is powerful. A quicker swing path will do more for you than a "fast" leg and a big powerful swing.
Now 16, Isak Cloete 🇿🇦 has been training with me since he was 10 years old and you can see what happens when you totally buy into the technique. 50 yards no tee ? Easy!
(Soccer goals at 75yards) The aim was to clear the crossbar with atleast 4.0 hangtime. 75yd+ with 4.0+ hang would qualify as a top quality kickoff. What do you think ? @IsaacPunts
Does it look like I'm breaking my back to kick the ball 55+ ? Thats the difference in the end. 60 - 70% effort - controlled and efficient because the energy isn't coming from the kicking leg alone. There's much more potential available and anyone can learn and get good at this.
Your swing plane (amongst other things) is a mirror reflection of the angle of your plant leg. This is one of the reasons I teach a wide plant foot location to my students. Wider plant = more vertical and forward swing = more controlled power and less variables to time up.
I read "working on consistency" and think OK, do you know what that means ? Consistency is found in the reduction of variables - SO are you reducing variables OR are you getting better at managing lots of variables ? There is a Big difference! @ProFormKicking@Shaynegraham17
If you spend as much time worrying about form and technique than you do worrying about recruitment and scholarships, you'll spend less time worrying about recruitment and scholarships.
You're only 8 steps away from completely optimizing your form.
Why not take this off season and learn how to hit the ball cleaner with a quicker & more efficient swing?
Unpopular opinion. Not all kickers are athletes! Anyone can throw their leg at a ball.
True athletes are obsessively detailed and are able to recognise the inefficiencies in their movements. They continue to adjust and push boundaries until their technique is world class.
Ever thought about all the wasted energy going to the left of the target as you swing across your body and how much potential you are really leaving on the table? Its much more than you think.
I have found that (without a tail wind) 70 yards is pretty much the ceiling of my capabilities. At my age (33) I think that's an acceptable limit. I doubt I would get anywhere close to this distance without this technique, something I've been working on for the past 6 years.
Too many young kickers think “kick ball” instead of “run straight, stay vertical, wide plantfoot, stay balanced, limit backswing, swing forward” but hey you have a 5star ranking, what’s form anyway?
Thinking about how to explain to young kickers that they're not reaching their full technical potential by obsessing over rankings and working with "coaches" who have recruitment connections.
No steering. No fetching. No groin activation. No lateral rotation. No changing directions. No crunching. No punching. No wedge foot or "locking out" the ankle (insanity) Just a swing that's all quad🦵and a stong & balanced posture... just.. like.. a.. PUNT!
Is it the most effective way to send the ball to 12 o'clock by swinging to 09/10 o'clock ? Probably not.
If Punters don't swing left to punt straight and Golfers don't swing left to hit straight, then why do most kickers swing left to kick straight ?
My long time student @matthewchmil starting to reap the rewards of his relentless dedication to learning proper kicking technique. Clean & effortless is how I would describe his form. Its a thing of beauty when the pieces come together.
Another day another dime. 55yds has become a chip shot as I've improved and optimized my technique. Send me a message if you're ready to take your technique to the next level.
My 16 year old 🇿🇦 South African kicking prodigy Isak Cloete goes from 50 - 55 yards off the ground in a challenging swirling wind. He is the real deal, D1 quality with another 2 years of preparation ahead of him before finishing up High School.
@_Mike_McCabe@IsaacPunts help me out here. Ever seen an inverted spiral ? With this punt the drop is angled the opposite direction of a normal turnover spiral and it comes off the inside of your foot. Makes for some good miss direction.
If you want to move through the ball with real purpose a 3 step approach might hinder your potential to create maximum momentum.
Here's a little progression moving from 2 and a half steps all the way to my full 4 step approach.
No surprise from a RUNNING back when we’ve been saying Kicking is 90% running and 10% leg swing. Most kickers I see are 90% leg swing and 10% running. If you’re trying to figure out how to kick the ball, stop! Figure out how to run and the ball kicks itself.
The shape of my foot at the apex of my follow through reflects how good my timing was.
Remember, the follow through as a whole is simply a reflection of how efficient the entire movement was.
The flexed and pointed toe at the end is just the icing on the cake.
A coach worth your money has a true methodology. They've also mastered this system if they're worth their salt. Don't be conned by imposters who promise recruitment - you will never reach your full potential learning from a poser who talks the talk but can't walk the walk.
Imagine arriving at practice after the summer and launching rockets like this.
Highly possible if you sign up for a couple of virtual lessons and let me show you how.
DMs are open.
Boys. Forward swing method: At the plant, the deceleration of the left hand side and the acceleration of the right hand side of the body will cause a natural and gradual rotation IF your body angle accommodates a forward swing down your original approach line.
Barefooted youngsters kicking Rugby balls in the african sun... There is simply nothing more South African 🇿🇦 Good camp out in the Capital City Pretoria, onto the next!
You aren't kicking with all of your potential because you're trying to kick the ball. Ironic.
Calculate for the relative lateral difference and you'll be able to meet the ball with superior posture, speed, power and direction.

A bomb from 60 at Harlequins Rugby Club Pretoria today. Great to be out on the field working with some rugby players in person who are looking to improve their kicking technique

I spend the week prepping my body for two really good and productive kickoff sessions. This is what majority of my kickoffs look like and I'm really happy but it took a lot of grind to find a method that produces this result so effortlessly.
Coming from Africa and a Rugby background I had all the bad habits.
Watch this video and see how I transformed myself from a very average kicker with terrible form into a kicker with a pro contract.
If I can do it, so can you.
PS: I have the cheat codes 😉
Consistent, effortless, easy on the body and the ball flies high and far. What more do you want as a kicker ? The best investment you can make is learn this. I started kicking footballs at 25, started learning this technique at 27. Got signed to a CFL team at 31. Out of Africa!
