I am humbled to be elected as the next ANC Commissioner for single member district 6/8F02 in the Navy Yard area! I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the voters for trusting me with their vote. Huge kudos to my team for pushing me on those tough and meaningful days; my friends, my family; esp. my older brothers that made sure the little sister was always cared for, my strategists at GoodParty, fellow ANC Commissioners who have endorsed and stood alongside me, my teachers, my home church family at the Temple of Praise. A special thanks to my son who has made each moment of this memorable — I have hope all because of you. To my mom who never left my side in this race, you are honestly the best. To my dad who is my angel, I love you and we did it!
This moment is an honor in so many ways. This campaign was one from my heart. It was a courageous effort that was bigger than just myself. I recognize the strength of the people. I recognize that leading by example is critical; because young eyes are always watching, just like those of my son. I recognize that hard work is the key to getting things done. And, this holds true because I have been working hard to make a difference within my #Ward8 community since the age of 14. Time stops for no one.
And, now is the time — as your Commissioner-Elect of 6/8F02 to move forward for the betterment of our community, together. On day one, I will be sharing my plan to our community because there is so much work to do. And — I am ready to lead!
