Working for Ohio means delivering results. For decades, outdated federal rules reduced Social Security benefits for many public employees. I was proud to help pass the Social Security Fairness Act, restoring benefits for millions of Americans, including teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other first responders. It was a pleasure to have Shemya Wilson, a Parent Ambassador for @changentorg, before the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Work and Welfare today to talk about the importance of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Education Home Visiting (MIECHV) program. MIECHV is an evidence-based program that provides voluntary home visiting services to children and families at risk of adverse outcomes. During our conversation, Shemya provided resources for more Central Ohioans to see if they qualify for MIECHV services. More information on those resources can be found here: 1. familysafetyandhealing.org/s… 2. changent.org/locations/ 3. childrenandyouth.ohio.gov/fo… Thank you, Sheyma, for your testimony today and for your stellar representation of Ohio in Washington!

Thank you to the @DTFA for stopping by today to discuss their work helping children in foster care find permanent, loving families. I appreciated learning more about Wendy’s Wonderful Kids and the Foundation’s efforts to support children who are often overlooked in the adoption process, including older youth, children with special needs, and sibling groups. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe, supportive home, and I am grateful for the work the Foundation does to help make that possible.

On Juneteenth, we commemorate the day emancipation reached the last enslaved Americans in the United States. Today is an opportunity to reflect on our history, honor those who fought to secure equal rights, and recommit ourselves to the ideals of liberty and opportunity for all Americans.

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, it's important that we preserve and share the stories that shaped our nation. I’m proud to join @RepJamesClyburn, @SenatorTimScott, and @SenLBR in introducing legislation to renew the African American Civil Rights Network for another ten years. The Network connects historic sites across the country that tell the story of the civil rights movement and the Americans who helped move our nation forward. Preserving these places ensures future generations can learn from both the challenges and achievements that have shaped our history. Renewing this program will help keep those stories alive, strengthen the connection between these historic sites, and continue highlighting their significance for generations to come.

It was a pleasure to have fellow Ohioans from all corners of the state in Washington this week for their yearly fly-in events. I enjoyed speaking with members of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber about key priorities for Ohio and my outlook for the rest of this Congress. Thank you for the thoughtful discussion and for taking the time to bring Ohio’s perspective to Washington.

Founded in Columbus in 1950, PLASKOLITE has spent the last 75 years growing into a global leader in thermoplastics manufacturing. I appreciated the opportunity to visit their facility and learn more about the work that goes into producing advanced plastic sheet solutions used across a wide range of industries. It was great to see firsthand how a company founded in Ohio has continued to grow while supporting jobs and contributing to economic growth here at home.

Enjoyed visiting OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital this morning to learn more about the excellent care they provide for patients and families across Central Ohio. From emergency and maternity services to specialized care programs, the hospital plays an important role in meeting the health care needs of the region. I appreciated the opportunity to meet with the Associated Builders and Contractors Central Ohio Chapter during their annual fly-in to Washington. Building a strong pipeline of skilled workers is critical to supporting Ohio’s growing economy, and I appreciate the chance to hear directly from those from our district.

It was a privilege to spend time this morning with Larry Bostic from the Paralyzed Veterans of America Buckeye Chapter. Our veterans answered the call to serve our country, and we owe them nothing less than the best care and support possible. As a veteran myself, I take that responsibility seriously and will keep working in Congress to ensure those who served receive the respect, care, and attention they have earned.

I was happy to host small business owners from NFIB to discuss issues affecting businesses across Ohio. Hearing directly from job creators helps ensure their concerns are part of the conversation as Congress considers policies that affect their ability to grow and succeed.

Tonight on the House Floor, I joined my fellow members of Ohio’s congressional delegation in a moment of silence for the victims of the tragic shooting that occurred during Toledo’s Old West End Festival this weekend. My prayers are with those who were injured, their loved ones, and the entire Toledo community. We stand with Toledo as it heals from this senseless act of violence.

The Social Security Fairness Act, a bipartisan bill I led the first public hearing on and helped enact into law, ensures that millions of teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other public servants receive the benefits they earned. In Ohio alone, more than 200,000 public servants have received payments totaling more than $1.8 billion. Under Social Security Commissioner Bisignano’s leadership, these retroactive payments were administered five months ahead of schedule. As Vice Chair of the Social Security Subcommittee, I thank Commissioner Bisignano and look forward to our continued work together.

Children's Hospital Association Family Advocacy Day is always one of the most meaningful days on Capitol Hill. I appreciated the opportunity to meet with families from Nationwide Children's Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Children's, and University Hospital Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital to hear firsthand about the challenges they've faced and the importance of the care that helped them through it. These conversations are an important reminder of the difference specialized pediatric care makes for children and their families. Thank you to the families for sharing their experiences and to Ohio's Children's Hospitals for the work they do to provide care when it matters most.

It was great to join members of the Clark County Farm Bureau at their Policy Development Resource Meeting last night. We talked about the House's work to pass year-round E15 and advance a new Farm Bill, and the importance of getting both across the finish line to provide certainty for farmers, fuel producers, and consumers. Ohio agriculture helps drive our economy, and hearing directly from those who grow our food and fuel is critical as Congress works through these issues. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their perspective.
