Get your voice heard! If you have suspected side effects or adverse incidents from medicines or medical devices, please use the Yellow Card reporting system #MedSafetyWeek@MHRAgovuk

Patients should not have to join the dots of patient safety but when they do, they deserve to be listened to with respect – one of the key messages from my presentation to the Patient Safety Congress now @HSJptsafety
Pleased that the Health Secretary Steve Barclay has asked me to convene NHS leaders with NHS England to look at introducing Martha’s Rule, to provide families with a second opinion on their child’s condition in hospital, building on existing schemes #MarthasRule
Please can we stop using language that blames patients? Reading the National Commissioning Guidance for Specialist Mesh centres I am appalled to read this sentence. Surely the treatment fails the patient not the other way round? #patientvoice#patientsafety
Why commission an independent review and not accept the recommendations in full? Nearly half of all correspondence I’ve received is from women still suffering from pelvic mesh implants. I will address this tomorrow at the Patient Safety Congress @HSJptsafety#meshredress
Today is #WorldPatientSafetyDay. This year's theme is #ImprovingDiagnosis.
We want to reduce delayed, missed, and incorrect diagnoses.
Our principles for better patient safety, launching in October, could help address this issue.
This morning's launch in Parliament of my report into redress options for those harmed by pelvic mesh and valproate heard how women were deceived, kept in the dark, and fobbed off and let down by the health system - read the report at patientsafetycommissioner.or…
Following an engagement process with system leaders the recommendations on implementing Martha’s Rule have been sent to the Secretary of State - I hope the momentum will be maintained to enable implementation - see patientsafetycommissioner.or…@meropemills@pollycurtis

Patients need information and data and they get this by using the Yellow Card system. Support the #MedSafetyWeek global campaign from the MHRA @MHRAgovuk
We need a seismic shift in the way that patients and families’ voices are heard. This requires changes in legislation, regulation, policy, commissioning, education, professionalism, attitudes, behaviours, and culture
Individual patients and families have campaigned for years and have had a huge impact on service design and delivery. They should not have to join the dots of patient safety. But when they do, they deserve to be listened to with respect #safercareforall

Delighted to launch my 100 Days Report patients-association.org.uk/… I have heard a yearning to put patient safety at the top of the agenda from patients, healthcare professionals and senior leaders and now is the time to listen to patients #PSC100DaysReport
I have witnessed dismissive attitudes and dazzlingly poor behaviours from senior officials, senior NHS leaders and senior clinicians – and those who display these bizarrely protected
This is very important in terms of justice for those harmed - I have heard from those harmed by pelvic mesh and sodium valproate and they all deserve redress
There will be so many feeling overwhelming joy and relief this morning. Last night’s vote comes off the back of decades of determined campaigning and an unwillingness to back down and settle for anything less than true justice.
