911 call taker Eric Watson received a call from a wife whose 88-year-old husband's lung collapsed. Eric handled the call expertly and stayed on the line as @dcfireems arrived. The resident shared that his professionalism and compassion "reassured [her] in this frightening time."
On November 13, 2023, OUC suffered a tremendous loss. Our beloved coworker and friend, @DCPoliceDept dispatcher Sylvia Nazario, gained her wings. Sylvia served the District for over 30 years, joining MPD shortly after the Mount Pleasant riots.
By this time last year on January 6, OUC had handled over 4K 911 calls and deployed its radio cache to its public safety partners. 💪 We are grateful to our staff for always answering the call.

On her third week as a 911 call taker, Ms. Jones received an early morning call for an assault with a deadly weapon. Ms. Jones quickly sent the call to dispatch while simultaneously calming the caller down to receive a detailed look out for @DCPoliceDept.
