It wasn’t the pronouns. It wasn’t abortion, it had nothing to do with wanting to take away the rights of women or LGBTQ, and it definitely had nothing to do with the fact that Kamala was a woman.
The ideology that permeated into the Democratic Party that people should see themselves as oppressed was completely devoid of hope and vigor. That’s what ultimately alienated people.
When everyone saw that the hysteria and hopelessness didn’t actually make their lives better, they switched over to a side that seemed strong, hopeful, and brave.
Pushing minorities and women to believe that they are disadvantaged in a patriarchal, racist world (even if it is true) is disempowering and depressing. It’s a losing strategy, and it lost them an entire election.
You don’t need to identify with any political party in America, but if you belong to a side that is constantly trying to convince you that your identity is going to hold you back, ask yourself… is this really something you want to be a part of?
