You can still contact your GP, 111 online or call 111 for help. If you are told to go to hospital, you must go. We’ll give you the care you need. #HelpUsHelpYounhs.uk
On 5 July 1948, I came into work with my shiny shoes and 12p in my pocket. We couldn’t believe that healthcare was free, I remember my mam paying the doctor before he would even look at you. It was a joy to know that from that historic day onwards, money wasn't an issue #NHS70
Today, I was able to ‘walk’ properly with a device called a Pam Aim (unsure of spelling). I can’t describe the feeling! I’m sure the big grin in the pictures say it all!
Shall we take this opportunity to tell @Jeremy_Hunt that the NHS is still running even though it's a bank holiday? Radiographers (like A and E and wards) work 24/7 for emergency scans and imaging. Our role is vital for patients.
As I come towards the end of my time on this account I wanted to let everyone know that I have really enjoyed this week - thank you for having me @NHS. I have written a few words to leave you with which I hope you will have a chance to read
#HelloMyNameIs Ethel, I'm delighted to be taking over the @NHS account today.
I was a cadet nurse on the first day of the NHS on 5 July 1948.
I remember my first day, I had on clean pressed white overalls and very shiny shoes.

Have u ever thought as u enter a room of colleagues.... I am not clever enough to be in here? That is probably the imposter syndrome & the #NHS is full of people with it. I say embrace your inner imposter, & remember no one knows everything - even people who think they do!
For those asking for a picture of Joshua now here he is a year on with the picture we were given that lives above his bed. Most people never get to meet their heroes, I gave birth to mine! Thanks for listening to his story we’re off for a cuddle😊 #fighter#theboywholived
I am so proud to have launched one of the first breast cancer screening mobile buses in Liverpool, 40 years ago in 1978. That old crate isn’t much to look at but I knew as a radiographer, we could treat breast cancer if caught early. We trundled that old crate all over Liverpool!
Before 1948 a home delivery cost a shilling and sixpence. That amount would have bought bread and margarine for a whole family. So women took their chances giving birth at home. After the NHS was created, babies were born for free. How wonderful #NHS70#HappyBirthdayNHS
God bless you @GaryLineker - hearing these words makes me so proud to have worked in the NHS. I was working in the NHS on day one on 5 July 1948 and you’re right, we must protect it and cherish it. #NHS70
The NHS is 70 years old. It’s something that we should be immensely proud of and protect at all cost. One of the foremost things that makes Britain Great. #NHS70
A-level results day! Good luck to everyone receiving them.
I got a D in Maths and a D in Science at GCSE & have no A-levels what so ever. Still ended up with a 1st class honours degree & a great career.
It’s not the end of the world if today doesn’t go to plan! GOOD LUCK 🤞🏻
Hello my name is Joe & I am the proud CEO of #TeamMKUH@mkhospital.
I’m married to Sam @samanthajnhs & have twins aged 8, & 2 frail, elderly parents who rely on the NHS & social care.
I think I’m the first hospital CEO to take the @nhs twitter handle - looking forward to it!
Good morning! #mynameis Kris and I’m very excited and honoured to be taking over this account for a week. I’m keen to give you an insight in to the life of an almost 33 year old living with stage 4 breast cancer. england.nhs.uk/atnhs/kristin…
This was #AngelosStory
One of heartbreak, courage and pushing of boundaries!
I still feel unbelievably privileged to have been a part of this courageous families story
No one in my family had been to uni & school said I wasn’t clever enough to go to Med school....but I soon proved them wrong! 💪🏻Don’t give up on your dreams!
These are my stairs...
Tonight I would like to give a huge shoutout to all the parents who work in the #NHS.
It’s not easy managing challenging clinical workloads & kids.
Keep going, keep caring & always remember to always look down on the stairs . You got this 👊
And here’s patient Louise (10) with physio Matt using virtual reality tech to assess and help her gait in the Motor Learning Lab. Louise is already a Twitter star through @FortniteGame...can we get more than 50,000 views and beat her record?! #AHPsintoAction
Evening twitter! After a day of snoozing, my Christmas break comes to an end with a night shift on an ambulance until 7am tomorrow. I'm with Ash, who got an early Christmas present by receiving his paramedic registration on Christmas Eve! Wish us luck! #paramedic#nightshift
It can be incredibly difficult to talk about your mental health, especially if your a guy. We’re expected to be strong.
I’m here to say “you’re not alone!” “You can get through!” Let’s make it more than ‘ok’ for men to talk, by being willing to listen 👂
#depression#Menshealth
Discussion:
Is it right that we all refer to each other by our pay bands instead of our titles?
“Yeah she’s the band 7”
“I’ve applied for the band 6”
Why do we do this????!!!!
#HelloMyNameis Jess, I’m an eating disorders practitioner. I suffered with eating disorders, self harm and depression in my teens and I am now fully recovered. I can’t wait to share my story with you!
This is the #NHS..... The NHS’s greatest asset are its people. Medical, Nursing, AHP, Managerial, Facilities, Estates, Procurement, Domestic services, IT, Pathology, Volunteers... and hundreds more. Share with me your stories, stories of recovery and care - #rehablegend stories
The story doesn’t end there, prem babies still have mountains to climb after they go home, but right now, with perfect timing, Joshua has woken from his nap. I’m going to go and have a really long cuddle with our little fighter. Thanks for listening to Joshua’s story.
My week of curating @NHS has come to an end. It's been an absolute privilege sharing my story with you all, and I can't thank you all enough for the interaction, support and encouragement. If you've enjoyed the insight into paramedic life, you can follow me at @wmasrobmoore 🚑
Hi everyone! Today I'm working on an ambulance with paramedic Laura, who's starting a new role as a Clinical Team Mentor shortly, like I currently do. We're working from 7am until 7pm, responding to emergency calls in Birmingham and maybe beyond! #paramedic
#HelloMyNameIs Lucy Watts MBE. I'm 24 & I have a life-limiting illness that means I'm in a wheelchair, fed via a line into my heart (#TPN), need 24 hour care inc #intensivecare#nursing & I've received #PalliativeCare for 6 yrs. I'm a #PatientLeader, consultant, writer & speaker.
As a CEO I’ve made my fair share of mistakes. Times I have not listened when I should have or I’ve made the wrong decision. It’s tough admitting when you’ve got something wrong. But it’s learning from these mistakes that I hope have & will keep on making me better at what I do.
It doesn't matter how friendly your dog is, or how they'd never hurt anyone, you absolutely must shut them away before an ambulance crew arrives.
I've heard from colleagues who've been bitten by the "friendly" dog - they know you're distressed, and we're strangers. #Paramedic
Biggest revelation that I have to tell you all.... A FRACTURE AND A BREAK IS THE SAME THING!! in radiology they have no difference and mean the same thing. (I'm glad I got that off my chest)
Hi Rob, I'm so glad that palliative care was such a support to you and little Henry, the right care can give a little relief to such a heartbreaking situation. I saw your story and campaign, it really touched me. We're so fortunate to have the NHS ❤️
On the Jubilee line on the way to a hockey match 🏑 in Greenwich and I saw this!! Can’t believe I haven’t seen it before.
Small reminders like this are so important 💪🏽 #InvisibleIllness
‘The standard you walk past is the standard you accept’, is another thing I hold in my mind as CEO. Whether it’s picking up litter when I see it (something I do several times a day around the hospital) or being confident our standards of care are what I’d want for my own family
We're saddened to hear Steve, who ran @NHS with his son Tom last week to highlight the importance of blood donation, passed away at the weekend. Our thoughts are with Tom and his family. Read more about Steve's legacy here: insupportofsteve.com/

In ICU lots of our patients are sedated, they are given drugs to support ventilation & organ failure. People therefore often assume we won’t speak to our patients, we absolutely do, we hold their hands and we tell them they are safe. #ICU#nursing#care
#Hellomynameis Ben and I’ve recently become an amputee.
I was hit by a car when helping a driver on the M42.
I am currently @WorcsAcuteNHS where I’m continuing my recovery & I've managed to stand up for the first time since the crash.

Talking to one of our cleaners who is just back to work after a bereavement. It’s never just another day in a hospital. When we come to work, we walk in with people who will, with joy at the start of new life or grief at the end, always remember today. A humbling responsibility.
In July my dad was admitted to @MKHospital. Today, walking down the corridor, Lee the porter who moved him from a&e to the ward that day last year asked me how my Dad was.
The #NHS at its finest, care and compassion from every member of the team
#HelloMyNameIs Chelsea. I'm 24 and a patient advocate for children and young people's and palliative care.

#HelloMyNameIs Will, I’m a therapeutic radiographer working in Gamma Knife. I treat brain tumours and other conditions with a specialist form of highly-targeted radiotherapy.
Thank you NHS for saving my life.
For times when I was in a suicide crisis
For the times I was in a deep depression
For the times I was in a manic episode
For the times when I needed support and care
For giving me my life back!
#mentalhealth#lifechanging
Student radiographer Dawid Giel is taking this giant doughnut, I mean O arm, to theatre for spinal surgery. Its an X-ray. The team will work together , the anaesthetist may pause ventilation temporarily to enable good images. Apparently there are only 16 in the UK! 🍩🍩
I'm on-call tonight. I hope I'm not needed, but always ready to attend when requested. Usually I have about a 25% chance of getting a call between 6pm and 6am. Sadly most calls are to those receiving End of Life Care, but it is always a privilege to be asked to support someone.
And that’s it from me! I won’t be able to read any messages to the @NHS account but you can follow me at @sbattrawden, The Doctors’ Association UK @TheDA_UK or 10 Things to Know @10thingstoknow_. Thank you for having us and hearing Joshua’s story @NHS! 👋🏻#overandout

One night, I caught the reflection of my stump in the window. Seeing it head on sent me into total meltdown.
I hated the look of it, it was so ugly and disgusting.
After having a good cry, I decided to embrace it into something positive.
Introducing #stumpythedinosaur
The #NHS is a 24 hr, 365 day service. Tonight before you snuggle down into your bed, spare a thought for all the #rehablegend night shift teams supporting patients to sleep, rest, care & recover. Here is the night shift teams in ICU @UHP_NHS - give them a like to say thanks 🙏
Men & Suicide:
I am a #Suicide survivor. I have had three significant suicidal episodes, and have made several attempts to take my life.
I am pained every single day that so many men die by suicide.
We have to listen & men in crisis

A visible leader is also something all CEOs should be IMO. Personally I love being out & about in the hospital listening to staff and patients as that’s how I find out what’s good, what’s needs to be better & what support people need to do their jobs to the best of their ability
This is an “All About Me” board, which are in patient rooms on the acute stroke ward. It aims to improve communication between patients, families and carers, and health professionals.
Does anyone else have something like this on their wards?

With the hot weather I thought I’d ask a question: do you think it’s ok to see staff drinking at work in the Emergency Department? Eg when writing up their notes. Please answer if you are a member of NHS staff or a member of the public.
'I'm Moustafa, (No, not Mofasa, that's #TheLionKing)! I'm an Egyptian Anaesthetist. I came to the UK temporarily as I intended to work in #America. But since I've been working in the NHS its turned out to be the best thing I did. I am proud to be part of it.' #SpecialtyDoctor
Patient Nick on the deweighting treadmill with physio Joe. Nick lost the use of his legs in an accident in 2018 and was treated in the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre @RNOHnhs. He called the team ‘exceptional, on another level’. He can now walk a short distance unaided 🌟
The time has arrived! For the next week I aim to take you all through the great profession that is Diagnostic Radiography. So much to get through in just a week with big machines, interesting cases, pretty pictures, breaks, sprains, blood and of course cups of tea. #raysawarenss

This family changed me as a nurse, they changed my way of thinking, they gave me a huge passion for end of life and palliative care in neonates- so much, that I am the Lead nurse for Palliative, end of life and bereavement care in my NICU now.
Angelo really is a shining star
What’s a huddle?! A brief 5-10 minute discussion where we talk about any patient safety issues, including pressure sores, falls, diabetic patients and anyone with potential sepsis. I always end my huddle with “have a good day!” I even managed to convince them to have a selfie!

My life was saved by this AMAZING little man, P.J.! He is my donor, my hero, and I think of him and his family (who I speak with often) every single day. He inspires me and I try to channel his adventurous, fierce spirit every day! 💗I love you, P.J.
#HelloMyNameIs Beth, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 37. I work with charities like @Bowelcanceruk who have offered me support. I love horses & reading. I can’t wait to tell you my story!
The health of babies has improved so much over 70 years. Premature babies didn’t stand a chance of surviving. Now we have babies the size of a bag of sugar who are saved because of technology. Incubators changed everything. The NHS has transformed lives and families #NHS70
#HelloMyNameIs Chloe, I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer when I was 17.
I work with charities like @CLIC_Sargent who helped me when I was ill.

What is an intubation? A wonderfully kind patient gave permission for us to share a video of their intubation. This has been done with a video #laryngoscope#VL. This shows the vocal cords and where an Endotrachael Tube is placed. Thank you for allowing us to do this
