Man, it's raining FUD this weekend, and I'm not sure about the origin. I guess it's that time of the cycle where everyone freaks out about Cardano's potential and roadmap, so they throw a wave of FUD at us.
With respect to World Mobile, the goals of their project require the construction of a global scale, heterogeneous protocol that handles complex hardware that is literally flying in the air, licensed spectrum, user driven network growth, and future proofing the quantum reality we are headed towards. No current system in the entire blockchain ecosystem is capable or has technology to resolve a project at this scale involving billions of users. That's why World Mobile is building it
Cardano's roadmap intersects in a very important way with a strong focus on identity, partnerchains, and our unique programming model involving eutxo. These, among other concerns like governance, are building blocks for a partnerchain to scale.
We noticed a repeated misunderstanding among some in the community that a partnerchain is apparently NOT Cardano. It's beyond my understanding since in the beginning in 2016 Why Cardano mentions Cardano CL. I guess everyone forgot about the idea that hypercomplex projects like WMC need the freedom to have unique protocols, including variations in consensus, ledger rules, network design, and transaction semantics. This is the same reality for Midnight, any DApp offering infrastructure as a service, and for concepts like decentralized social networks.
The point of partnerchains is to provide a framework to do this while being secured by Cardano and enjoying the remarkably solid infrastructure that has been running non-stop for 2300+ days 24/7. The second point is to provide a launchpad for a service to be sold to the entire block chain industry. Again, repeated thousands of times since the beginning, we said interoperability is a pillar of a third generation blockchain. Even if you're in the numbers go up crowd, cross chain transactions are always good for network value.
WMC is trying to connect the unconnencted. Not just the Cardano unconnected and screw the rest of the industry. Every human should be connected by a decentralized network with equal and fair rules. The point of partnerchains is to provide a model for how to do this as we are demonstrating with Midnight.
While the roadmap has never varied, the frameworks and core infrastructure are new for this paradigm and will require time to mature as we are seeing with the Midnight DevNet growing. We at IOG look forward to working with World Mobile to help them achieve their mission and to ensure Cardano continues to be part of their story.

Incorrect. The capacity of the Starlink satellites would not support 140 million users. 140 million people would have antennas that did not work. Doing the calculations: Starlink has a mixture of v1 and v2 mini satellites. The newer V2 Mini satellites provide 80 Gbps, while earlier V1.x satellites offer around 20 Gbps. Given a mix, let's assume an average capacity of 50 Gbps per satellites. The current constellation is 4000 satellites giving a most optimitic capacity of 64 Exabytes per month. BUT the satellites are only over the USA 1/8 of the time so the capacity of Starlink is 8.1 Exabytes per month ie. 1/10th of the USA demand. Also the US demand is growing by 8-17% per annum (depending on your source) so it is an ever expanding problem.
Conclusion: Starlink is a great solution for fill in coverage but it is not big enough to cover the base load.

To go multichain, it is requirement to have liquidity on multiple chains… Moving “everything” has never been on my agenda but being available to all within the web3 space has.

Yesterday, KOLs decided to bring up tweets from the past with no context based on a contractors tweet that didn’t represent the views of World Mobile and was not from an official account.
Just like we have a moral responsibility to stick to the principles of decentralisation, influential accounts within the Cardano ecosystem also have a level of responsibility to spread correct information.
We are not moving chains, we are building our own chain making WMT available to all.
I hope project leaders know that moving to a centralized sidechain is not the end-goal.
It might have certain short term advantages like better support, faster tx, lower fees, higher liquidity,...
but remember why you're on Blockchain in the first place.
Its all about decentralization.

We build while other projects promote. I shared a shot of WMTscan with real time data. We finished auctioning network EarthNodes all 1000 were acquired. Next is remote AirNode ownership. We are now launching our dynamic network using aerostats at 12 x lower cost than trad telcos.

Together, we’re unstoppable.
According to the @GSMA, globally there are 3.6 billion people (almost half the world’s population) who do not use mobile internet. This includes the ‘connectivity gap,’ which is about 400 million people who are not covered by mobile networks at all.
They’re unconnected because traditional mobile networks struggle to invest in hard-to-reach places.
But, at #WorldMobile, we won’t take distance for an answer. We’ll go the extra mile to connect the seemingly unconnectable, because we know connection is everything.
At dawn this morning, close to Massingir, #Mozambique, we went the extra-mile, and history was made.
We’re delighted to have successfully launched:
- The first commercial telecoms #aerostat in #Africa.
- The first aerostat in Southeast Africa.
- The biggest aerostat World Mobile has used to date.
Many said it could not be done, but we have persevered with the objective of delivering on our mission to connect the unconnected and serve the underserved.
Mozambique’s internet user rate stood at a mere 23% of the total population in 2022, a shocking figure given that almost 62% of its populace live in rural areas. This lack of #connectivity has a significant impact on access to #healthcare, #education, #banking, and economic opportunities.
We believe that our unique, #decentralised, hybrid dynamic network can help provide a solution to Mozambique’s connectivity challenges. We believe it paves the way to solving connectivity challenges across the globe.
Aerostats are a significant piece of this solution, and this launch sets the foundation for our commercial deployment of decentralised aerostats across Africa and beyond.
