An interesting Perspective: ⬇️
@pudgypenguins debuted on @ethereum in July 2021, with 8,888 unique NFTs selling out in just 19 minutes at 0.3 ETH each. Their initial success was notable, with the floor price quickly reaching 2.4 ETH. However, the project faced significant challenges; mismanagement by the original team led to a $2.5 million acquisition by Luca Netz in 2022. Under new leadership, they've managed to expand their brand, including a partnership with Walmart for physical toys.
On the other hand, @sagamonkes were airdropped to holders of the @solanamobile Saga phone, showcasing a unique distribution method tied to hardware ownership. The Saga Monkes NFT collection was then distributed for FREE to less than 9k unique wallets that claimed their @solanamobile Genesis Token at the start of January, 2024.
This approach not only created a buzz but also initially tied the NFT's to the mobile device ecosystem of Solana. The airdrop saw significant interest, with the floor price of Saga Monkes at one point worth more than the Saga phone itself.
However, the @SagaMobileDAO faced its own set of challenges. In January 2024, Saga DAO lost approximately $60,000 in SOL due to what was described as an inside job or mismanagement. The funds, meant for community initiatives, were transferred from a wallet where multi-signature security measures were not properly activated, leading to accusations and a significant community backlash.
This incident led to a call for a new leadership structure and the proposal of 'DAO 2.0', aiming to implement better governance practices, transparency, and security measures to prevent future mismanagement.
Now with some wanting to dissolve the DAO entirely, and others wanting a more transparent 2.0, it is my belief that no matter what the course, @sagamonkes will be leading the charge!
In the end, both of these communities highlight the diverse approaches within the NFT and DAO space, from the high-stakes, drama-filled journey on Ethereum to the innovative path on Solana.
This just goes to show that with the right mix of innovation and leadership, the sky is the limit!
