Just wanted to reiterate—we only hire US citizens on our farm and in our meat packing plant. All of our full-time employees have health care. We can do this by being vertically integrated and diversified. Most small operations like ours rely on family members, hire locals or, on the rare occasion, use legal and seasonal Visa programs. The recent order released by the Department of Homeland Security regarding ICE raids will only benefit the Big Packers and Big Ag, who exploit illegal labor. We are very supportive of President Trump and all he is doing for this country. However, if the leadership at the USDA is actually interested in saving Agriculture, perhaps they shouldn’t rely on information coming from the operations that are putting small guys like us out of business. We are ready and willing to collaborate with the Trump Administration on how to deliver on his Immigration mandate while also protecting the small and independent producer. Over the last few days, we have received thousands upon thousands of hateful comments, messages, emails and phone calls over our support for President Trump. Most of these comments have been on our Instagram and Facebook accounts, but more alarmingly, members of our team have received death threats over the phone and via email. If the threats of violence against us continue, we will be referring each of them to the Department of Justice for further investigation. And then you mofo’s can figure out what FAFO really means.

Dear @POTUS Trump, We love you and support you— but your suggestion to buy beef from Argentina to stabilize beef prices would be an absolute betrayal to the American cattle rancher. We understand there are larger economic and geopolitical dynamics at play, including countering CCP influence in countries in our hemisphere. But the practice of solving problems “over there” before solving problems here on our soil is what contributed to the downfall of our country: Americans always come last. We understand beef prices are high, and we admire your concern for all Americans, but this is not the fault of the American producer. This is the fault of politicians who have allowed BRICS-aligned entities to dominate the meat industry, that participate in price fixing and who also continually lie to their consumers. Washington for decades has facilitated the squeezing of our own ranchers while allowing these entities to flood the market with cheaper, lower-quality imports -- and the American people don't even know these products are foreign because they are allowed to be marked as “Product of the USA”. On top of all this—there is only chaos coming from the Department of Agriculture. There is no true guidance, mixed messaging, and a copious amount of photo ops. There is no one to trust over there that truly understands the issues and isn’t bought out by or aligned with Big Industries. The American cattle rancher is one of the last symbols of independence we have in the nation—but the continued manipulation and betrayal by the very people who claim to support them, needs to end immediately. While only representing 1% of the population, the work is tireless, daily, in poor conditions, with low margins, without thanks— all in order to keep this country fed. We would be a failed nation if we continue to betray the very people who put food on the table for us. There are so many voices on the outside that support you and want to see you succeed. Maybe it’s time to start listening to them. Your team knows how to get in touch with us. Sincerely, Meriwether Farms

Dear President Trump, We love you. We support you. We congratulate you on the historic passage of the BBB. However, you are getting bad advice from the @usda. One of our tweets went viral a few weeks ago when we stated that all of our employees are US Citizens. We made that statement, because we are speaking on behalf of all the small and independent farmers and ranchers around this country who run their operations the right way, and do not exploit illegal labor. The people who run these operations have been forgotten and sidelined. Many of them voted for you overwhelmingly in all three elections, because they believe you actually represent them. You are the first People's President we've had in decades. You won historically in both 2016, 2024 (and arguably 2020) by promising to close our border, deport the criminals who broke our laws and put Americans first. You do not have to backtrack on that promise, by listening to the BigAg Corporations. We, along with some other incredible organizations, have some very compelling ideas on how to secure the food supply chain, support the small guys, and hire Americans, all while keeping the border closed and monitored. We just don't have a voice right now at the @USDA. A member of your team reached out to us recently, saying that you read our tweet and wanted to hear our ideas. We would be honored to have that opportunity, which we would use to amplify the voices of the hardworking farmers and ranchers around the country. Our email is info@meriwetherfarms.com Looking forward to hearing from you! 💛💛

When an American consumer walks into a store and purchases things like tshirts, kids toys, household items etc etc, each of these items has a mandated stamp or tag identifying the country in which it was produced or manufactured. Why is that not the case for beef? We’ll tell you why: it’s because over the last decade, both the Executive branch and the Congress have facilitated the deception of the American consumer by allowing Big Four Packing Plants to sell foreign beef with a “Product of the USA” Label on it—causing American ranchers to go out of business because they can’t compete based on a lie. This needs to end, and it needs to end forever. It’s time to reinstate Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling once and for all! Call your reps, keep on making noise, the pressure is working! 🇺🇸

We agree that the supply chain is fragile. This is why we do what we do. However, we cannot continue prioritizing cheap, foreign and ILLEGAL labor at the expense of hardworking Americans. If we can find hardworking and loyal employees in towns with populations under 4,000 people and take care of them, so can the big guys.
I applaud @potus’s decision to pull back ICE operations from targeting farms and packing plants. The food processing chain is very fragile and important to Nebraska’s economy. I support our ICE agents who are trying to protect our country. cbsnews.com/news/ice-directe…

We’re going to call a spade a spade and say that the National Cattleman’s Beef Association @BeefUSA is the enemy of the American cattle rancher. They: - support amnesty for illegal ag workers - want unchecked foreign beef imports, especially from Mexico, who is still struggling with an outbreak of flesh eating maggots - are AGAINST Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL) - are AGAINST President Trump’s tariffs on Brazil Worst of all they take congressionally mandated money, called the Beef Checkoff, from hardworking producers to go lobby against their interests in DC The Beef Checkoff is a mandatory national program established in 1985 that collects $1 per head of cattle sold in the United States, and it’s managed by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board under @usda oversight In 2025, $25.7 million (!!) of the $38 million national Checkoff budget went to the NCBA, which accounts for 68% of the total funds distributed by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board It’s time for people in Washington to stop listening to these crooks and start listening to the people who break their backs everyday to make sure this nation is fed

Actions the White House and @potus could take right now to help the American Beef Industry: 1. Reinstate Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL) via Executive Order — we’re tired of waiting on the Congress. Their promises to pass MCCOL are empty and they cannot be relied upon to get this critical legislation passed. All of these imports that are ALREADY coming in need to be clearly identified, so the consumer knows what they’re buying—it’s a matter of national security. This would also provide true competition for foreign vs domestic beef. 2. Enforce segregation protocols at the Big Packing plants that are ALREADY importing foreign beef—our small packing plant is forced to implement segregation protocols for our Non-Hormone Treated Cattle (NHTC). The trim and carcasses the Big Guys are flying in from wherever are not subject to the same health and sanitation standards that American beef is, so it’s actually a health risk not to keep foreign and domestic beef separate. They would also be prohibited from blending the foreign beef with American beef and passing it off as “Product of the USA”. 3. Fire the head of the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) who is a long time former Tyson Foods executive—the USDA needs to regain trust from the people that they are not controlled by the Big Four. There are many talented inspectors around the country who are professional, have an ag background, and better understand the needs of small processors. One coming up through the ranks would have the respect of the building and be trusted by smaller guys. 4. Expand regional processing authority by allowing inspectors to oversee multiple small plants—we cannot operate without a USDA inspector present and ranchers cannot sell their product across state lines without a USDA stamp of approval. If we were allowed, we could open up more processing capacity to accommodate more cattle from our neighbors, which means consumers would have more options. Same for a lot of small plants around the country—some have years-long waiting lists. There are many more actions that could be done to help the independent producer while also benefitting the consumer that would take much longer planning, but these all can be done IMMEDIATELY. Please feel free to comment below with other ideas and suggestions 👇

BREAKING: We have received reports—and video evidence—of two potential New World Screwworm (NWS) infestations in U.S. cattle: one in Texas, one in Oklahoma. We have chosen not to share the videos, because the last time we did, @x locked us out of our account for 4 weeks. Reports conflict on whether these cases tested positive or negative for NWS. We sincerely hope they are negative, but we are seeking clarification from the USDA. We call on @USDA_APHIS to immediately release the results of all recent NWS tests, as it is a requirement that all potential NWS specimens go to National Veterinary Laboratory Services (NVSL) in Ames, IA for official testing. This is an ongoing threat to our nation. Lack of timely, transparent updates creates unnecessary volatility and uncertainty in the cattle industry —directly hurting the livelihoods of small and independent American ranchers.

Something the @usda could do right now to help American producers that requires no additional act of Congress. There is a provision in the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA) of 1906 that prohibits the false labeling of meat: “That no person, firm or corporation, or officer or agent or employee thereof shall forge counterfeit, simulate or falsely represent, or shall without proper authority use, fail to use, or detach, or shall knowingly or wrongfully alter, deface, or destroy, or fail to deface or destroy, any of the marks, stamps, tags, labels, or other identification devices provided for in this Act, or in and as directed by the rules and regulations prescribed hereunder by the Secretary of Agriculture, on any carcasses, parts of carcasses, or the food product or containers thereof, subject to the provisions of this Act, or any certificate in relation thereto, authorized or required by this Act or by the said rules and regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture.” This would prevent the labeling manipulation done by Big companies who flood the nation with foreign beef and slap a label on that says “USA product”. American consumers have the right to know where their food is coming from, and cannot make informed choices with false and misleading information. I have attached the link to the bill here for further review: govtrackus.s3.amazonaws.com/…

Well guess what: those burdens you are complaining about like providing cattle birth records, affidavits on the care provided, and segregation protocols to separate carcasses are ALREADY forced on small packers. We know because our small packing plant has to abide by these USDA regulations and provide extensive documentation EVERY DAY WE OPERATE—why is it that The Big Guys don’t have to play by the same rules? THREAD: What is the Newworld Screwworm and why the @usda should continue suspending livestock imports from Mexico The New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) is a parasitic fly whose larvae infest and feed on the living flesh of warm-blooded animals—including livestock, wildlife, pets, and even people—by laying eggs in wounds. BREAKING: Secretary Rollins’ held a press conference this morning on the New world Screwworm. Here is our response: The Secretary admitted that she has known about the threat of the New World Screwworm since her appointment in November—so it is suspicious as to why she making this big announcement in August, 7 months after she was confirmed by the Senate. Why not sooner? She failed to mention that she caved to pressure from BigPackers and prematurely announced the reopening of livestock imports on June 30, and then opened ports on July 7. She failed to mention how close the threat is to our border now, when weeks ago it was reported under 400 miles from Texas. There have been two suspected cases of NWS in the US, and there has still been no official confirmation or denial. She criticized President Biden’s Ag Secretary, Tom Vilasack, management of this situation, but she’s retained his Director for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Dr. Michael Watson, who is a career Biden Holdover. The plan she announced this morning about building Domestic Sterile Fly facilities will take at least a year to build, and by that time it will be too late. American cattle producers have lost faith in Secretary Rollins’ ability to competently manage this crisis. Quite frankly, we are sick and tired of “5 point plans”—we need action. So we call on the Department of Homeland Security to assume control of this situation immediately.

We experience so much red tape from the labeling bureau at the USDA. (It’s under food Safety and Inspection Service, FSIS, that is run by a former Tyson Foods employee) In fact, one of our most recent label submissions was DENIED over ONE word that has been on our label for an ENTIRE YEAR. It is now held up in the shutdown, and we have no way of moving it forward. So you’re telling us that while we deal with this bullshit, we also have to celebrate that Big Packers will have now have “voluntary” Country of Origin Labeling requirements? Give us a break, Gaslighters! 🤡

The biggest threat to the American cattle industry is flooding US markets with foreign beef labeled as “product of the USA”. It is a matter of national security to reinstate the mCOOL (mandatory country of origin labeling) Act, and we are waiting for the @usda to publicly support it. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

The price of beef is high right now because our leaders have allowed BRICS-aligned entities to dominate the meat supply Washington continues squeezing U.S. ranchers while letting in cheaper, lower-quality imports -- and the American people don't even know these products are foreign Do the American people really want to depend on inferior foreign beef forever?

Can you also please take over the @usda 🙏🏻
As ultra-processed food has taken over our diets, and pharmaceutical profits have corrupted our healthcare system, this country has lost the most basic of all freedoms: the freedom that comes from being healthy. But right now, there’s a new American Revolution underway here at @HHSGov—to rebuild a food and medical system that is worthy of your trust. I invite you to join the revolution by making healthy choices for yourself and your family. Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

It’s an absolute tragedy that we don’t have people like Joel Salatin running the USDA
Joel Salatin on restoring American agriculture: "We need a food emancipation proclamation so that farmers can sell to their neighbors without asking the government's permission." "That’s the answer to urban food deserts." "It’s the answer to everything." "It doesn’t take a dime of taxpayer money." "It doesn’t take a government agency—only the unleashing of liberty and freedom in the food system." "You shouldn’t have to ask the government’s permission to sell a bowl of tomato soup to your neighbor. That should not require a government position." "What we need is to unleash the American entrepreneurial spirit and let us interact in food transactions without asking the nanny state for permission." THREAD 🧵

Why is it that members of Congress, Cabinet Secretaries, and other senior government officials continue to call farmers and ranchers the “backbone of the country” while simultaneously screwing them with disastrous policy decisions? Do they even believe what they are saying or do they think we are stupid?

I found an account who doesn’t like us speaking out against the corruption happening at the USDA. I guarantee this account was created by someone either on the payroll of AFPI or USDA to run interference and to intimidate us. We’re not stupid, we know how this works 😂 We will not stop until the USDA starts putting the needs of American farmers and ranchers over BigAg! Start with supporting MCOOL!

For far too long, corrupt, foreign meat corporations have been allowed to lie to American consumers and undercut American producers by labeling their inferior, foreign beef as "Product of the USA". It's time for this deception to end. FOREVER. Today we are calling on the White House to issue an Executive Order to reinstate Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling to restore the integrity and safety to our food supply and to support the Americans who break their backs everyday to keep this nation fed. Mr. President, this would be heroic. This would be a mandate that the Congress could no longer ignore. This would restore the faith in American producers that you have their backs. AMERICA FIRST!🇺🇸🇺🇸

UPDATED INFO: The new date of confirmation of this human New World Screwworm case is now August 4 Which means, Secretary Rollins HAD TO KNOW about this case in the United States when she gave a press conference in Texas on August 15 In her remarks, she assured many times that the NWS hadn’t yet reached our borders Why did she intentionally withhold this critical national security information from the public?

The fact that there is a human case of New World Screwworm in the United States confirms our suspicions that there are other cases that the USDA may be covering up This is so scary

You know why the BigPackers don’t want Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL)? They fly in trim meat from inferior foreign cattle and grind it into our American ground beef, and then they slap a “Product of the USA” Label So the American consumer has no idea about the quality or safety of the product It’s disgraceful

One of the main reasons that the MCOOL Act was repealed in 2015 is because Canada and Mexico filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization. Why did we let a complaint to a globalist organization dictate our national policy? This has been devastating American producers. We’re calling on the @usda to publicly support the MCOOL reinstatement immediately.
