Similarly, Ethereum (ETH), Ripple Ripple -0.11% XRP and Solana Sol -2.93% Solana fell more than 5%. The decline is in line with risk aversion in other financial markets, particularly equity markets. The Nasdaq 100 fell more than 1 per cent to $19,635, while the S & P 500 lost 0.50 cent. These indexes are dominated by tech companies and tend to be more sensitive to risk sentiment. Popular tech stocks were also affected. Nvidia shares plunged 5.4 percent, wiping more than $175 billion off its market value. Tesla fell 3 percent and AMD fell 1.5 percent. The sell-off was likely caused by a rise in US bond yields ahead of key economic reports, including non-farm payrolls data and reports from recent Fed minutes. The 10-year yield rose 1.7 per cent to 4.70 per cent, while the 30-year and five-year yields climbed to 4.61 per cent and 4.50 per cent, respectively. A rise in bond yields usually signals a more hawkish stance by the Fed. The Fed signaled during its December meeting that it would cut interest rates twice in 2025, fewer than previously expected. The minutes of the meeting, which will be released on Wednesday, January 8, will provide further insight into the Fed's discussions. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are under additional pressure after the number of job openings surged to a six-month high, driven by the service sector, the U.S. Labor Department reported. The report predated Friday's official non-farm payrolls data. The stronger-than-expected jobs report could reinforce the Fed's hawkish stance, as a tightening labor market will keep inflationary pressures high. A concise overview and context from me (some randomized thoughts) @OfficialHashAI (Part 1) RWA also known as "real asset tokenization," which, as the name suggests, is architecture to real assets onto the blockchain and the consequent digital assets i.e. tokens & NFT’s is not a new concept. An example of aforementioned RWA is a well known origin protocol that is still very successful, if you guessed USDT, congratulations. The first successful use case for RWA as it applies to DeFi is the stablecoin USDT. Tether, which issues USDT on-chain via the U.S. dollar, has a current market value of $136.6 billion and its annual revenue is impressively high. Just look at the financial results released by Q1 Tether in 2024, the fiscal performance was as high as 4.5 billion US dollars, and the net profit was 6.3 billion US dollars in 2023. Tether/USDT as a use case clearly validates the process of "asset on chain"! With this being said stable coins are correlative but real estate, gold, stocks and other tangible asset classes cannot be? By whose authority? This begs to the following observations and examples. So the "real assets on chain" or synthetic assets appeared early on, and SNX of XIA DeFi, was one of the most promising protocols of this class of early pioneers. Within SNX's DAPP, you could use Synth to synthesize any asset class to complete an investment. This sounded very exciting, integrating the bond market, stock markets, gold markets providing an immediate liquidity vehicle for bifurcation of real world assets and digital assets. Unfortunately, policy and markets did not equalize to provide the congruent conditions for success. with one exception being the ever nascent USDC. The lack of progress on any kind of real assets on chain again could be concluded to the previous bear market as well as inflexibility of policy. Even with the previously mentioned challenges, TRADFI institutions were still very interested in exploring the RWA track. Why? We say that investment, especially venture capital decision-making has two very important reference indicators. Firstly does the track itself affect the expansion of market size of the intended target vector, the second is whether the new technology/ product/solution use case can solve the challenges of the intended target vector/market. We use this logic to comb RWA’s, for actual realization. In traditional finance, capital utilization and risk control are particularly critical. The primary impact of tokenization of real assets is the shift from limited working hours to full time operability and assessment (24/7). Second is the ability to settle in real time, for example repo transactions, ultra-short-term financial instruments, quasi-savings class of monetary funds and other misc asset classes see benefits. The following theory is eye opening (Repurchase\ settlement is T + 2, requiring after asset monetization, order books must be unified, and T + 0 must be achieved) seems to have little significance for retail investors, but for institutions with enterprise level capital, this is particularly important. On the one hand this ideology reduces transaction costs, on the other hand, it increases risk resistance and integration costs.
