one reason why @localhostHQ, we stopped doing online grants.
grants honestly ruined everything. we went from builders who cared about their craft to people collecting grants like pokémon cards.
now everyone's got tens of grants in their bio after shipping some half-baked mvp they'll never touch again.
the moment getting approved became the end goal instead of actually building, we lost what made us builders.

this past summer, i got a $80k grant to work full-time to tell stories of some of the most exceptional ppl while travelling the world.
in the past 2 months, i interviewed 20+ cool young founders, researchers and side project-makers
all media combined across all platforms got 11M+ views through 19 videos posted.
and now, i'm doubling down on this.
so, i have joined @localhosthq where i'll be leading the media and events wing. for the next 4 months, we're pouring in maximum money and time to produce some of the best media and events out there in the Twitter and Instagram sphere.
and we're hiring for sept-dec full-time roles:
- creative director / operator
- chief of storytelling
- full stack engineer
- chief of whimsical events
the team is going to be small, remote-first but will often have 1-2 week off-sites across the globe to lock-in. competitive pay, with revenue share.
we'll be working on different projects, lots of trial and error, very scrappy.
you'll learn intensely, work w/ some of the smartest ppl, w/ resources to make some insane ideas happen.
if it goes well, we'll continue the team after december and keep working on the projects we come up in the next 4 months.

LocalHost (@localhostHQ) is not a startup accelerator or mentorship program—we don’t care about the idea or business.
We back students before they even know what they want to build. We invest in people; not ideas.
We believe in being student-run because my team and I are figuring things out alongside our founders.
... For a firsthand peer-to-peer dynamic, not top-down mentorship—students helping students navigate uncertainty of our paths together.
Question, why does it need to be student run?
Such a VC would solve for the capital problem, but it doesn't bring in any kind of external validation of business, ideas or any kind of mentorship required to build a business.
I ask this out of curiosity.
Thiel Fellowship, WTF Fund try to already solved this problem of getting capital to enterprising students, under the aegis of experienced operators.
