High Threat Protection and High Level Dignitary Protection is a very proactive occupation. Those that have operated in High Threat non permissive and permissive environments know that the most important security procedure, proper site due diligence, needs to be done prior to a Principle's arrival. The second assassination attempt on @realDonaldTrump 's life is glaringly obvious that the current @SecretService is not fully grasping this. No perimeter sweeps conducted prior to DT taking the course is a major fail and it's one of the most simple things well trained protective teams know and do. It should've been a habitual procedure. The only time that can't happen is when a principle/protectee "shotguns" a movement to an unknown venue within an hour and even then protective professionals should have procedures in place to get their people in place to minimize the chances of an attack. I've been on a surveillance op, moved directly to an advance of a venue to move on directly to physical protection in a span of 24 hours in very non permissive environments many times, so I know it can be done..it sucks but it can be done. The @SecretService needs to train to be proactive not reactive. We had a saying back in my @StateDept HTP and @CIA GRS days..."a quiet day is a success."
