It was probably 2005. Voddie delivered a fire sermon and made a remark that women should leave the workforce and be focused at home. I’m sure he followed that up with his trademark, “if you can’t say amen, say ouch.” We weren’t accustomed to hearing such direct teaching. For me, it was a welcome jolt to the system.
I came to work the next day excited about the message only to discover that a lot of the women I worked with were upset. At all staff that day, Andy had to issue somewhat of an apology. That’s when I started to realize something was off at North Point. Anyway. That’s my Voddie Baucham story.

I’ll try to write something to address this in detail. But I think this civil war is overstated (though yes there are some real divergences between the populists and the techies). But briefly:
In general: I dislike substituting American labor for cheap labor. My views on immigration and offshoring flow from this.
I like growth and productivity gains, and this informs my view on tech and regulation.
When it comes to AI specifically, the risks are 1) overstated or 2) difficult to avoid. One of my very real concerns, for instance, is about consumer fraud. That’s a valid reason to worry about “safety.” But the problem is much worse if a peer nation is 6 months ahead of the US on AI.
Again, I’ll try to say more.
