Yesterday, our workshops, classrooms, and labs turned into examination centres as our learners sat for their @UVTABOfficial assessments. With over 80% of the candidates being young women, learners from Automotive Mechanics, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, ICT, and Fashion & Design took an important step toward their future careers. We’re proud of every learner who showed up, prepared, and gave it their best. Skills have the power to transform lives, and yesterday was a testament to that. #SmartGirlsUg #GirlsWithTools

At the District Chain-Linked Committee meeting in Nebbi, our Legal Officer @michmichelle256 under the Her Access project supported by @unwomenuganda, @NLinUganda through @GlobalSpotlight joined justice sector actors and district leaders to address key barriers to justice, including: • Delays in operationalizing the Nebbi High Court Circuit to reduce case backlogs and bring justice closer to communities. • Limited capacity of Local Council Courts, which remain the first point of justice for many community members. • Poor road access to the prison, affecting inmates’ ability to attend court proceedings, especially during the rainy season. • Child protection concerns, including children accessing bars, discos, and engaging in night-time street vending. • Increasing land-related disputes and the need for greater public awareness on land rights and the distinction between civil and criminal trespass. The discussions also laid the groundwork for the upcoming Court Open Day, which will provide an opportunity for communities to engage directly with justice institutions and legal aid providers. ⚖️ #UNWomenProject

She also highlighted that menstrual health is a shared responsibility requiring schools, teachers, parents, and boys to all play a role in protecting girls’ dignity and learning. She called for safe WASH facilities, school-based support systems, teacher involvement, and stronger accountability to make schools truly period-friendly. She further stressed that when girls miss school during menstruation, they miss life opportunities, and investing in their dignity is investing in the future of the nation.
