Tax season is getting real. I just saw an accountant on reddit show a whole year worth of receipts. Is this normal? #TaxTwitter

Not enough people are talking about this: Most employees are using AI, and their bosses have no idea. Here's the data every leader needs to know: 85% of Gen Z (18-28) use AI at work. 78% of Millennials (23-43) use AI at work. 76% of Gen X (44-57) use AI at work. 73% of Boomers (58+) use AI at work. Surprised? Turns out, older generations aren’t as anti-AI as you might think. The big question: Should companies start offering AI tools to their teams?

This is not a fun fact: During tax season, the average accountant clocks 50-60 hours a week. Even hitting 80 hours! That’s some serious overtime to make sure every figure aligns. What is the worst part of tax deadlines for accountants? #TaxTwitter

Question time: What’s the one task accountants wish they could reclaim with their time the most? You’ll be surprised by the answer. A massive 55% of accountants wish they could automate data entry and reconciliation. That’s more than half the profession, drowning in repetitive tasks! 48% want better automation for tax prep and filing. That’s right, nearly half of us want those endless forms handled. 46% of accountants are begging for automation in financial reporting. And here’s a kicker: 30% want to automate routine client communications. Because, let’s face it, answering the same email over and over is no fun. It’s time we let AI handle the mundane so accountants can focus on what really matters. What’s your time-sink you wish you could ditch? #taxtwitter

Don’t get left behind. How every accountant is using AI (or will be soon): There was a report that came out in 2024 and revealed that: 8% of accounting firms already use AI. 13% of accounting firms are planning to use AI. 30% of accounting firms are considering whether to use it or not. 49% of accounting firms right now have no plans to use it. AI isn’t a threat but an opportunity. Those who embrace it will likely be head. And the rest? They’ll eventually follow or be left behind. #taxtwitter

If you're an accountant, read this: Already, 24% of top-performing CAS practices use AI. You know the saying, “If you want to be the best, study the best.” If your CPA practice hasn’t adopted AI yet, it’s time to take note. Follow what the top firms are doing—and you could be one of them.

It’s no secret that accountants dread the new year. The hours accountants work during tax season are brutal. Most accountants clock in 55-100+ hours a week in Q4, with even some weekends spent working: - Accountants: 55-58 hours - Partners: Up to 85 hours - Owners: A staggering 95-100 hours It’s the most stressful time of the year, with tax deadlines, fiscal year closeouts, and endless paperwork. What are your suggestions for how accountants can survive the busy season? My suggestion: Automation. Automate the low-level tasks while focusing on high-level work. #taxseason

As BDO’s CEO Wayne Berson says, "Not everyone wants to wait 12+ years to make partner. This ESOP lets employees share in future profits now. The longer you stay, the more you benefit. With a six-year vesting period, BDO aims to keep talent and reward long-term commitment.

BDO recently launched an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) giving 10,000+ employees part ownership in the firm. Through the program, BDO will invest an extra 10% of employees’ salaries annually into an allocation account, which workers can access upon retirement.

Running a firm can look very "demure", but it’s a constant grind. Everyone sees “CEO” and assumes you’ve got it made. But behind the scenes? Clients, spreadsheets, staff, workflows—it’s chaos. If theres one small change you can make that will have you running a firm you don't feel like quitting on it's: Setting up Systems and getting organised. If your'e unsure which system to start with, take a quick inventory and figure out which processes is giving you the most headaches and tackle that first.
