The complexity of #Ebola response in #DRC demands close coordination across @UN system and humanitarian partners. Together with @UNReliefChief Tom Fletcher, I signed a joint letter to endorse the appointment of Julien Harneis (@julienmh) as a Senior Ebola Coordinator in Kinshasa.

As the #DRC battles an Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus, WHO's updated filovirus disease guidelines — covering all Ebola and Marburg virus types — are designed for frontline health workers. The recommendations cover early detection of deterioration, dehydration and shock management, patient monitoring, safe delivery of critical supportive interventions, and structured follow-up for patients who have recovered from Ebola and Marburg. #StandWithScience

True. War makes fighting Ebola so much harder, blocking access, scattering contacts, and driving people into hiding out of fear and mistrust. Yet responders show up every day, risking their lives to both the virus and the violence. They need our continued support.
The whereabouts of almost 300 people who have tested positive for Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is unknown, according to Africa’s top public health official. theguardian.com/global-devel…

Contact tracing in the #DRC is reaching more people, and more #Ebola patients are recovering and going home. But the fight is far from over. War and insecurity still slow the response, and mistrust is the real battleground. Win trust, and we win this.

Every time I meet with young people, the priority health issue they raise with me is mental health. That's why I was grateful that Veronika Novotná shared with me the “Global Youth Call to Action on Mental Health”. I look forward to reviewing it with my team and supporting it in every way we can. I also invited these inspiring creators from across the European Union to engage with the @WHOYouthCouncil and help shape the future of global health. But there is another issue that will define their generation: pandemic preparedness. No young person should relive the collective trauma we all endured from COVID-19. So I asked them to do one thing: tell the story of the Pandemic Agreement to their communities. The Agreement only works if countries join it. Their voices can help make that happen.

At this week's 2026 Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity, @WHO leaders @DrTedros, WHO Director-General, and Dr @SamaanGina, WHO Regional Emergency Director for the Western Pacific, addressed a critical question: How do we reinvent cooperation in a fragmented world? Country examples shared at the Forum indicate that the answer may lie in an unlikely sector: #PublicHealth. In the Asia-Pacific region, Timor-Leste has long illustrated how health and peace are two sides of the same coin. A once fragile, post-conflict state with limited systems and resources, Timor-Leste today is #MalariaFree. Through political commitment, multilateral cooperation, and community trust, the country has met many of its health and political security goals.

Under the #DRC government’s leadership, the coordinated #Ebola response to the outbreak is starting to take hold. But continued scale up is needed, across all areas and functions. @WHO and partners are working with the government and affected communities to begin clinical trials for therapeutics, to test candidates for safety and efficacy, so patients can have higher chances of recovery

My deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones in the deadly earthquakes in #Venezuela. The health needs are growing as the response evolves, including for mass casualty management, injury and trauma care, and support for health facilities impacted by power cuts. @pahowho teams are in close touch with the responders and on standby to deploy additional staff, to provide medical supplies needed to treat the injured and mitigate disruptions in health service delivery. bbc.com/news/live/c621z18wzn…
