In 1971, a set of Roman Baths which laid hidden for almost 2,000 years were discovered in Exeter.

Tiddy House in Exeter is one of the last of the old buildings to survive in Tudor Street, on Exe Island.
It is something of an enigma, for it is uncertain when it was built. English Heritage date it to the late 16th Century, without giving any evidence.

Exeter Cathedral has discovered the ancient tomb of William The Conqueror's nephew.
A crypt and stone-lined tombs were among the other exciting discoveries that were unearthed. It was the first time in 150 years that archaeological excavations took place in the Quire area.

In 2013, a metal-detectorist found 22,800 old Roman coins in a field a near Seaton, the third-largest coin hoard found in the whole of Britain!
