Reflections from ~200 daily DM chats and ~60 1:1 calls since Elmentals released. Trying to be unbiased, hard to summarize all.
1) The garden is full of resilient, critical, honest and creative mfers.
A lot of my conversations started with valid feedback & smart criticism. However, the majority ended with trust, willingness to build, and excitement for the future. The garden is really built different.
2) Reasons to stay and build.
We've lost core community and every goodbye hurts. The majority of my conversations focused on why people are staying (brand, relationships, community, past execution, future plans). The community understands how deeply the team cares (based on our words and actions). There is trust to be rebuilt, but the majority are staying.
3) Pressure (and contagion) to be negative in public chats. While the same people are feeling positive in 1:1s.
A large number of people feel like they are pressured to be overly negative or overly positive based on their close group. Take a step of perspective, we as humans imitate each others behavior. Azuki is a very passion-driven brand, echo chambers are always bad for us. Consider your positive echo chamber might have turned into a negative echo chamber (both are just as bad for a realistic perspective). Let's talk, i have a realistic picture of where things are at and I will give it to you like it is.
4) Rumors and misinformation.
Unbelievable amount of made up information circulating around some groups. Please just ask me before assuming something someone said online is true.
5) BEANZ
Honestly, BEANZ has gathered the most exciting group of IP builders. We are here to fight for this brand and its massive potential.
6) Still here, what happens next?
We are going to keep connecting 1:1, listening to feedback, answering questions, dispelling rumors and breaking people out of negative loops if we can. We won't stop fighting for the garden. And again, and again, and again...
I'm working on a massive thread to thank all the people that have taken the time to care for each other in the garden, hosting spaces, building, commissioning art and defending this beautiful community. I'm full of energy and purpose for the long and exciting journey ahead. I can't wait to grow my team with more like minded individuals and to keep building a healthy, smart, critical and resilient community.
