Wanted to share some thoughts around this Anime[dot]com release From talking to people within the industry to speaking with many hardcore fans over the past few months, what became clear to us is that there is a massive gap between the anime industry and global fans. What started as Japanese media and a niche subculture for the rest of the world, has become a global medium loved by many. Global anime fans want to consume all sorts of content related to anime outside of the literal animated content itself, but have a difficult time finding it. There is a gap between the industry and its global fans. By the time a global fan consumes content related to anime, it has likely gone through layers of aggregators and this is very lossy. This actively throttles fandom and the industry’s TAM. When you read about what goes into the craft and see the BTS artwork/animation, your fandom deepens. When you can better discover merch and events accessible to you, you participate and spend money. While we all know anime is huge and growing, I believe it’s not growing as much as it could be. Our goal is to provide fans with value that they love using every day. While there are a ton of improvements and optimization work to be done, this release is our first step in plugging the gap that exists between the industry and its fans. It is the culmination of the team’s hard work over the past two months, and I’m proud of the effort, thoughtfulness, and craft that has gone into it. Thanks to everyone who showed up. Some post watch party metrics/thoughts: - had 1036 of you all tune in to the watch party with 1900 claiming the free trait - 37k signups in 2025 leading up to the watch party - good % of the audience went on to the azuki page to explore some more - was great to test some initial load on the site with everyone watching at the same time and spamming the chat - some validation around a hypothesis that we had, that a social experience around content is fun, but that it's sometimes difficult to read subtitles and chat at the same time. we've got some ideas around stickers and how to make engagement fun in ways that don't distract from the subtitles as much - some feedback that it'd be nice if the chat stayed open for longer to foster post watch discussion. will think about how to balance that with directing people to view the IP's page to learn more and the collecting experience overall a great first step, thanks to those of you who tuned in. glad we were able to release this and test out in the wild. got some great footage and metrics to share with our interested partners over the coming weeks. in the meantime the team will be shifting towards quickly launching some other features that we've been exploring in parallel
