Hello Cardano community! We are @DeltaDeFi, we are here to connect liquidity across the CeFi and DeFi worlds, bringing more CeFi liquidity and trading activities to Cardano💙 To understand why we do what we do, let's first look at Cardano's DeFi history and evolution. Since Alonzo in late 2021, Cardano smart contract capability has been officially live. We faced a period of struggle implementing AMM DEX due to the technical difference between the eUTxO model and the account-based blockchain model. Thanks to early pioneers like @MinswapDEX, @SundaeSwap etc, batcher was then introduced as a solution making the AMM model possible on Cardano. Still, scalability is a bottleneck for Cardano DEX. Then it came to the Vasil hardfork in late 2022, which introduced inline datum, reference script, and reference input. In short, these are all upgrades enabling more efficient smart contracts. Cardano DeFi performance is boosted with examples like the latest Minswap V2, and Sundae V3. Where we are at today in terms of Cardano DeFi - the technology is ready, but the liquidity issue is the next challenge under the spotlight. The DApp utilization of Cardano is in general lower than other L1s as hinted by multiple metrics such as trading volumes and TVL, it hinders the growth of Cardano ecosystem in general. To solve it, we want to bring external liquidity, and we are looking at CeFi liquidity on centralized exchanges. We plan to onboard CeFi traders and bring them to trade on-chain in Cardano. CeFi here is defined as crypto-ready users conducting their trade in centralized exchanges. The daily trading volume of $ADA at the current price amounts to ~250m USD, with only around 1% happening natively on the Cardano blockchain and the rest happening in CEXes such as Binance. Even if we only onboard a further 1% of that trading volume onto Cardano. There’s already 2X of current liquidity! The $ADA volume is only less than 1% of total CeFi market. Massive opportunities ahead! How do we bring CeFi liquidity on-chain? What do the CeFi traders care about the most? The current biggest challenge for CeFi traders is fund safety. With the collapses of FTX, BlockFi, CeFi traders suffered significant losses of their assets, amounting to 46 billion USD. Unsurprisingly, CeFi liquidity is in search of a solution without platform risk, at the same time, they still want a similar experience with trading on centralized exchanges. TLDR: CeFi liquidity is looking for CeFi trading experience with enhanced fund safety That is why we are building @DeltaDeFi to onboard CeFi liquidity, and here's how we are doing it: 🔷 1. Zero order management fee (zero transaction fee placing and canceling orders), transaction fees only occur when your order is matched - In CeFi, traders place multiple orders and cancel multiple orders within a second when they receive market signals from their proprietary sources. Even 0.01 ADA charged on each action makes their trades cost-prohibitive. 🔷 2. Instant order confirmation - DeltaDeFi also makes high-frequency trading (HFT) possible, where a trading pattern could make profits out of 5bps of price advantage. That’s why it is crucial to confirm the trades at the time of signing the transaction so that their 5bps profit margin strategy would not be affected by the market price movement in the next second. 🔷 3. Programmatic access - Programmatic access enables CEFI traders to deploy customized trading strategies, including HFT. to the platform, accompanied by the 2 features above. 🔷 4. Everything non-custodial - On top of all the features CeFi liquidity requesting above, trading on DeltaDeFi is fully non-custodial - it means our platform cannot move any of our users’ funds with their private key signing on the transactions, compared to CEXes controlling their assets. All the features above satisfy the needs of CeFi to trade on Cardano. While achieving the above will excite CeFi traders and likely bring more liquidity, it comes with trade-offs: 🔸 We adopt a radical approach to process all orders-matching off-chain. To increase transparency and audibility, we enable users to pull the immutable full market records for reconciliation, auditing whether our off-chain engine is performing as we promised 🔸 Each order has to be at least 500 ADA's worth to cover the Plutus script running cost charged by the Cardano blockchain, to reduce the trading fee to as low as 10 basis points (0.1%, same as Binance’s maker fee). Here’s where we are now: we have just wrapped up our first round of private alpha-testing, receiving valuable feedback and improving our product. Soon we will announce the public alpha-testing round. In about 3 months, followed by a beta with an incentivized trading game and then we go mainnet! Here’s how you can be involved. We are rolling out the 2nd alpha testing very soon. With that, you can taste what the CeFi experience feels like on DeFi. Also, you would be the first one to have hands-on experience trading on our platform, gaining an advantage on our next incentivized beta testing! The biggest bottleneck for Hydra adoption: Immaturity of the ecosystem Without a significant amount of dapps building on Hydra, there are not a lot of tooling supporting Hydra. This makes it very difficult to build dapps on it, which in turn, disincentivizes tools to build dapps. The negative feedback loop is relatively challenging to get out of. In previous posts, we have mentioned that trust is needed with the Hydra head operators, since eventually the states will be confirmed by all the operators’ multisig. This is indeed a non-technical challenge faced by DeltaDeFi at the moment. While DeltaDeFi is meant to be a decentralised protocol, we have to mitigate the trust issue. With the philosophy of trusting “at least one participant”, we will initially invite community partners to operate our Hydra nodes. The parties will be projects which are 🔹Well-trusted by the community 🔹Well-aligned incentives to maintain integrity Eventually, if the network starts to grow in size, we will try to further decentralise the selection process of our Hydra node providers. 🚨Public Testnet Update – Day 2 We ran into a severe issue causing temporary downtime on the trading platform. Here’s the TLDR: •⚡️Under-provisioned resources on the cloud instance running our Hydra node, •💾Hydra state partially corrupted (recoverable, requires manual resolution), •✅Issue resolved! Everyone can continue testing in our alpha environment, The issue is indeed the best things we could hope for in running the testnet - exposing as much critical issues as possible so we could ensure the production launch is seamless. Final remarks: •🔐Reassure, nothing about fund safety is involved. There is clear pathway to recover all states, trades and funds even if it happens in mainnet, •🧰We are creating an issue in hydra repository, to work with hydra team to generalize solutions for fellow projects developing on hydra experiencing same issue, •🫶🏻Huge shoutout to our first batch of testers! Just 45 accounts generated 72,211 transactions in a single day — our cloud definitely felt it , Cannot be more bullish — thanks everyone for helping us break things!🤜🏻🤛🏻

Hydra is not like rollups. Here’s the key difference: - Hydra is closer to a sidechain. Funds move in and out, but Layer 1 doesn’t track every transaction. The Layer 1 is only concerned about the final settlement state. - Rollups (Optimistic/ZK) replay all transactions on Layer 1 in a highly compressed format. Together with proofs that the transactions are valid. While all of these are technically scalability solutions, so their use cases have significant overlap. 🚨 One Last Push Community! Fund 13 is a huge challenge for many builders and we are no exception, especially when DeltaDeFi’s dedication to building Hydra DEX is not on the CF voting list. Let us take this chance to share a bit of @DeltaDeFi’s journey. You’d see this account was actually created back in September 2022. This is where DeltaDeFi as a hobby project started. Our team consists of a bunch of TradFi veterans participating in Cardano for fun, we set ourselves up on a mission of bringing TradFi intelligence to DeFi community, first through trying to build financial products that do not exist on Cardano DeFi and experimentally push forth a F10 proposal to build financial option. Obviously that was not a successful attempt, and we very quickly realise that back then there were not a PMF for onchain financial option. We didn’t stop slowly building, until we were repeated told by traders that trading onchain is ngmi, due to order confirmation time and “gas fee” etc. Then we switched our direction to solving these fundamental axioms. Shortly after this new problem was identified, starting from @HinsonSIDAN, our team gradually gave up lucrative professional jobs and aspired to build something great. Then, we started to seriously secure minimal financial safety for the team. Gratefully we got community approval in F11 to start serious research. We proved ourselves by completing the F11 proposal, which yielded extremely exciting result that we found a native solution on Cardano L1 to bring the trading primitives above to live. That’s a tipping point where we have to choose between going VC early or believe in the community. We invested into the latter and the community had not failed us, we got the F12 proposal passed and able to bring more team members to happily have their paid-cut to work in Cardano full time😆. In the middle of implementing F12, we have successfully DEPLOYED DeltaDeFi V1 onto preprod that give instant order response to users and possible with API trading 🔥! Obviously again we didn’t invest any of the ADA into marketing, and perhaps not much people in the community know that we were live (we promise we would shout as loud as we could for the next time!📢📢📢) In the middle of wrapping up Web2 issues and UX refinements, we met @TrymBruset this September in Singapore Token2049. With Hydra technology combined with our previous research findings, we genuinely believe that we could build the Binance UX for Cardano. It opens so much imagination about Cardano DeFi and we made a quick and tough decision - obsoleting lots of source code and move to betting 100% on Hydra. We ideated, tested potential blockers, conduct architecture, and prototyping, brought the curated approach to #CardanoSummit2024, and came back with 2nd in Battle of Builder (CF was in the assessment panel! 😅) The whole journey is approved by YOU, Cardano community members. Although without CF 180M vote the chance of obtaining another few months runway is tiny, we need your vote more than ever! Every vote from YOU represents your trust, support, and approval of our mission and direction to empower high-frequency trading and liquidity solutions on Cardano. Hydra is designed to be trustless, but that creates new challenges: 1. Non-participants can’t directly send funds into Hydra channels without trusting someone inside. 2. If assets are minted inside Hydra, they might not be able to leave. 3. Lack of developer tooling makes it hard to build dApps using Hydra today. Hydra is very well documented in the scientific research paper published by IOG.
