Simo Häyhä (1905-2002), also known as "The White Death", was a Finnish sniper who had 505 confirmed kills, all of them over a 100 day period during the Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union.
After numerous failed attempts by the Soviets to kill him, a Russian soldier shot him in the face with an explosive bullet which put him in a coma. However, Simo woke up a week later and contacted the newspapers which reported his death and told them they were wrong.
Simo wanted to go back to fight the Continuation War, but his request was denied because he was still recovering at the time.
To this day, he remains the deadliest sniper in history.
